Bar Fruity Gin & Tonic Gin and cocktail Hidden Hidden bar in KL Jackfruit & Lemon Pandan & Basil Seeds Quiet Rustic Seared tuna

Pahit @ Jln. Sin Chew Kee, KL – A quiet, hidden bar with good food, drinks.

My partner and I very recently visited this gin focused cocktail bar for a quiet birthday dinner. During the MCO, while waiting for our takeaway food from Three Years Old cafe, we walked a few doors down to check out what else what in the area and came across Pahit. At that point, sitting in, enjoying the ambiance while having a drink was not possible as dining in was not allowed but we did tell ourselves that we will be back for an actual visit. So, here we are.

I personally like this stretch of road because its quiet. Besides Three Years Old that is located in the corner and has been gaining in popularity, the rest of the eateries here are more under the radar, has a hidden element to it but no less popular.

We made reservations and were seated by the bar. It was perfect for drinks, a little tight space-wise for food but it was the better of two options.

If you fancy some place quiet, basically a place you can sit and chat for hours without interruption – Pahit is awesome. I liked the rustic interior, it gave off a simple and easy vibe. Basically a no frills bar with lots of options for gin. They are well stocked up in that regard.

Menu

Fruit Gin & Tonic : Pandan & Basil Seeds, RM 26 + Jackfruit & Lemon, RM 26

Between the two, the jackfruit drink was the more stronger, serious one. The Pandan was more subtle in flavor, playful. I’ve always had Gin & Tonic just as it is, so this fruity infusion was something new to me. The one with jackfruit was ‘kaw kaw’ especially with the addition of lemon, a slightly bitter-ish aftertaste. I loved it. Every sip you take would also come with nice jackfruit aroma 😍. As for the Pandan, the flavor was infused into the drink and with every sip you’d take, it comes with some basil seeds. A fun drink. Both fruity gin and tonic were good but my favourite would be the one with jackfruit.

Tuna, RM 39

This was a really good dish. The seared rare tuna was perfectly cooked on the outside, rare on the inside. The combination was simply divine. The fish was fresh and came in a good portion size. It was good enough to eat on its own, equally as good with the tar tar sauce provided. The dish also comes with a serving of fresh salad, a combination of rockets, edamame.

Overall, it was a good visit to Pahit. Good drinks, good food, good ambiance and most importantly, good company. I wouldn’t mind heading back here again.
