Sometimes, the urge for something sweet and decadent hits you out of nowhere and so starts the craving for a good plate of dessert. It was during one of these times that we ended up at Plump.
As you drive passed the row of shops along Jalan Bangkung, at first glance, you’d most probably miss it because there is no clear signage to indicate its existence. Plump is located on the first floor, above Opus. So, look out for Opus.

It was full house when we arrived. It catches you by surprise, the crowd. Why? because from the ground floor, you cant really see anything. There was no indication whatsoever that this was a well liked cafe. We simply assumed that this was just another cafe in the area and we were wrong. The full house only hits you when you reach the front door. Almost all the tables were fully occupied, we snagged the last available one.
Lots of catching up sessions were taking place during our visit. A boisterous environment, for sure. Chatters and laughter all over.

They offer about 20 cakes to choose from ππ. All looked soo good that decision making was a tough one … but after much deliberation, we landed on two π
Hazelnut Slice, RM 22 + Pistachio Slice RM 22
Yes, I agree, the price of the cakes here are at a higher price point. At RM 22, you’re essentially paying a few ringgit more that the usual cake cost at other cafes but the cakes here are good. Not only that, you’d get a good portion of each ingredient as displayed in the images below.

Both cakes were tasty. To me, the cake base had similar texture to a sujee cake, a little more dense here perhaps. Each slice came with a generous portion size which makes up for the high price point, I suppose. Nowhere else of late have I been served a slice of cake with as many berries as I did here.
The Pistachio Slice came with about 6,7 pieces of strawberries with a good sprinkle of crushed pistachio and cream. It had just the right amount of sweetness and there was a tiny bit of sourness from the strawberries.
While both cakes were tasty, I liked the Hazelnut Slice the best. That hazelnut spread was da’ bomb. It tasted similar to Nutella but the one here was thicker and gooey-er? The cake texture was similar to the Pistachio Slice, not too sweet too. When eaten with the hazelnut spread, sweetness was just right. For this cake, there was a choice between berries and pear as a topping, I opted for berries. I liked it, the combination.
In the future, I wouldn’t mind dropping by to indulge in more cakes here.
