Sometimes, when the bunch of us dont know what to eat, thinking is just too much of an effort … we usually end up at our regular go-to(s). I am sure you guys have a list of those too, right?
In PJ New Town, one of our usual go-to is Strawberry Fields Cafe. However, at that point of our visit, it was full house. Usually, we’d wait. Now however, with the covid case on the rise again, we decided against eating at a crowded restaurant. While heading back to our car, we came across Sam U Claypot.
As we were all really hungry, after looking through their menu, it was mutually decided that we should give this restaurant a try. We arrived around 9.15 pm. Half the shop was occupied and most of them were almost done with their meals. Soon enough, we were the only ones there. Food arrived super quick and it tasted delicious.
Customer service was great. An older lady took our order. She was friendly and patiently suggested dishes when we needed suggestions.
Fried Brown Rice with Seafood, RM 11 + Quater Roast Chicken, RM 28 + Kangkung Belacan
Food was good. Besides the Kangkung Belacan, the other two dishes were suggested to us. The fried rice exceeded our expectations. A dish of flavorful rice with long beans, spring onions, crabstick, prawns. The portion size was large too. For just RM 11, it certainly was a good deal.
The roast chicken, it did not even cross our minds to order it until the older lady serving us brought it up. She basically said that they are famous for their roast chicken and that they had the last portion for a quater chicken available for the day. We decided to give it a go and have no regrets at all. Man, the roast chicken was sooooooo good. Soft and moist. It’s hard for me to describe how good it was. It’s something you’d need to try for yourself. The 28 ringgit spent was well worth it.
The Kangkung Belacan was pretty good. I usually like them a little more dryer. This dish was a tad too wet for me. However, the taste of belacan was evident, so was the smell of it. This was the first dish to arrive and by the time the other dishes followed, all the kangkung were in our stomachs. Yea, it was good.
Would I head back here? I certainly would. I most definitely will get myself another plate of the fried brown rice with seafood because it was so yummy.
