Cafe in a house Chocolate Pound Cake Dessert Instagrammable New 2022 : Jan Old Klang Road Open Daily Pork Free Taman United

Buibui Bakehouse & Studio @ Old Klang Road – A cafe in a house (pork free)

There is a new cafe in this part of town, perhaps a week old or two, located within a house in a neighborhood. The cafe in a house trend has become exceedingly popular of late and so, I think Buibui will gain popularity in no time … if they can improve on a thing or two lah.

The Beetle car strategically parked at the entrace sure was crowd pleaser. I noticed several couples doing a mini photoshoot session with the car.

Bui Bui occupies two floors with the bottom floor being the cafe and the top floor being studio. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. During the time of our arrival, at around 2.30 pm, almost all of the tables inside were occupied which meant we ended up sitting outside.

Outdoor was nice and green. However on a sunny day, it can get really hot. Some shady spots here and there did not help much when there is no wind. Totally relying on the wether to provide us customers with the necessary air is a gamble. Waiting outside for our dish to arrive ended up being a rather sweaty affair.

Their customer service was a bit on the slow side. Items took a while to arrive. I suppose with them being new, this can be overlooked for now. It would be nice if their desserts were displayed with their names so that it would be easier for us customers to make up our minds rather than having to wait in line till we reach the counter to enquire. Cutleries too took a while. Sharing a slice of cake was rather difficult with a spoon and a knife, especially when the cake is crumbly and breaks apart easily. So, we had to request for another pair, which took additional time. The cutleries were flat and wooden. A flat spoon doesn’t do much in being able to scoop things up. Yea, between the knife and spoon, and juggling the balance – it was a little inconvenient. Hmmm, perhaps they were saving cost, ey? πŸ€”πŸ€”

Chocolate Pound Cake, RM 13 + Wholemeal Cranberry, RM 19

Wholemeal Cranberry Loaf and Chocolate Pound Cake

The pound cake tasted good, chocolatty and not overwhelmingly sweet. Texturewise, rather crumbly. I was looking forward to it being dense, as conveyed by the cashier but dense it was not. The outer corners were somewhat dry and crumbly, the inner part was warm and somewhat dense.

What Bui Bui is popular for is their Hokkaido toast/ loaf. We got a loaf to share. At 19 ringgit, it was priced at premium compared to other wholemeal crandberry loaf we’ve come across elsewhere. It tasted good though. Consistent with Japanese bread, the texture was soft and milky with a slight sweet-ish flavor. Mum is usually a fussy person when it came to bread and she liked it, said it was a memorable bread.
