Najia’s Pakistani Tawa & Grill at Mont Kiara – Oooo yum 😍 (Pork free)

If you are someone who likes North Indian cuisine, then you’d love this Pakistani restaurant. The cuisines are not exactly the same but if you look closely, you’d find that they share many similarities. Be it India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and even the Middle East, the flavors and spices transcends borders.

I personally find myself having a soft spot for anything similar to the Northern Indian cuisine. That being said, this would be my first time trying out a Pakistani restaurant. A visit to Najia was not planned. It was something we stumbled upon after a work meet close by at Solaris Mont Kiara. As we were rounding the bend to head out, we saw Najia’s and right on time, our tummies started rumbling. So, Najia’s it was for lunch.

As soon as we entered, we were attended to. Customer service was good. Once orders were taken, we were left to our own devices. They had a Pakistani music program called Coke Studio playing on tv which basically consisted of studio recorded performance by famous as well as up and coming artists. It provided a nice blend between traditional and modern music… which I liked lots. Liked it so much that I went onto Spotify to check if it was available there and it was, yay. It was fair to say that while waiting for food to arrive, I was entertained πŸ™‚

Sindhi Chicken Biryani
Masala Zinger Burger

The food here was delicious. You’d get plenty of flavors and spices here, that is for sure. I decided to go for the Masala Zinger Burger. Good stuff. Imagine a KFC zinger burger except the one here was 10x more crunchier and flavorful. The influence of South Asia was evident with every bite. Man, them spices were da’ bomb. Every mouth taken had crunch, crunch and more crunch. I though I wouldn’t be a fan but I was converted first mouth in. The dish also came with a side of fries. If you observe the image above, I am sure you can tell that that too had plenty of masala. I like it. Texture-wise, the fries were soft. If you prefer yours thin and crispy, you best inform them. I did not have an issue with it as I felt that the soft fries allowed me to enjoy the flavors more? My friend however, mentioned a few times that fries should be crispier πŸ˜„. It is all a matter of preference, I suppose.

The Sindhi Chicken Biryani tasted awesome too. I think masala and spices is a common thing at Najia’s, across the board. Both dishes we ordered had lots of flavor, spice-laden. The biryani was also a little dense and so, with the flavors, I did not require the curry or the yogurt that accompanied the dish. It was good enough to eat on its own and with the 3,4 pieces of chicken, it made up a good chicken biryani.

Would I head back here? I certainly would.
