As the heading implies, there is a new bakery restaurant in town. Underwood Baker’s Restaurant & Coffee is just over 3 weeks old and is located along Jalan Sahabat in Bukit Bintang . Don’t know where Jalan Sahabat is? We didn’t either. It is near Changkat but off the busy road. Located opposite the road from the popular resto-bar, Rabbit Hole, just a 5 minutes walk away.
Underwood occupies 2 floors with both outdoor and indoor seating. As soon as you enter the restaurant, the first thing you’d see is the pastry display area. I sure did feast my eyes on some freshly baked goodies. Once that was done , then I started noticing my surrounding. Underwood was well spaced out, bright and had a cheery vibe to it. It was white with plenty of greens (plants) at every corner. They also had some sort of glass panels at the seating area which brought in sunlight while filtering the heat. I liked it because while it brightened up the place, I did not feel the heat at all.

Tuna Puff, RM 10
This pastry was crispy, buttery and airy. There was a nice crunch biting into it and on the inside, a good portion of yummy tuna. Yum.
Half & Half ( Hawaiian Chicken & Mushroom) RM 38
When asked what was most popular here, I was told that it was their pizzas. All pizzas here are made with 100% organic flour and baked in a real wood fired oven. I opted for the half & half option because one of us was a vegetarian. So, the Hawaiian Chicken half was for me and the Mushroom half was for him. The pizza was pretty good, the crust was light and fluffy, did not fill me up as quick as the ones with thick, solid crust. On the meat side, there was shredded chicken, pineapples, turkey ham with a blend of sauces for topping. On the meatless side, there was olives, spinach and mixed mushroom with white sauce. Both halves were nice. It had a nice flavor to it with plenty of items to munch on.
Overall, it was a good visit. It certainly would make a good place to hangout if I find myself in this part of town again. The restaurant looked good, awesome ambiance and food was nice too.
