I came across this new cafe/restaurant while I was headed to Atria mall. It looked rather inviting from the outside and so, I took note and decided that I’d pay Nicholes a visit when I am in Damansara Jaya next.
Nicholes have been operating for 6 months now and from what I saw, it was fast becoming a neighborhood favorite. I dropped by during the very recent public holiday, Nuzul Al-Quran and experienced a jovial atmosphere all around. At the entrance, a group of older men were having their brunch get-together. Conversations overlapping one another and yet, perfectly in sync with the topic of discussion … it was fun to watch. Once I headed in, there were a couple of families having a meal together as well as several groups of friends catching up. It was nice. With the music setting the mood and with chatters and laughter at every corner, I was relaxed and comfortable in no time.

Here, there have an array of dishes available depending on what you are in the mood for. Desserts both sweet and savory and well as wholesome, filling dishes.
Menu

Nasi Lemak with Ayam Rendang, RM 22

I decided to indulge since it’s a holiday and went for their Nasi Lemak. As written in the menu, they have apparently sold more than 100 thousand plates since they’ve opened doors. Quite the feat for a 6 month old eatery, ey? I certainly was intrigued.
As usual, the Nasi Lemak came with a number of ingredients – the regular ones and more. Santan fragrant rice with homemade sambal, boiled egg, fried anchovies, papadum, chicken rendang, Nyonya acar, cucumber and peanuts. The chicken rendang was delicious. It had plenty of flavors and came in two large pieces. Nyonya acar provided some crunchyness to the dish. The sambal was tasty and came with plenty of onions. However, as I am someone who likes ‘pedas’, this was more on the mild side for me. Nothing the gravy from chicken rendang could not help with because the combination of both the rendang gravy and homemade sambal was good.
Signature Grilled Chicken with Pasta, RM 29

Ooooo, the grilled chicken was delicious. It consisted of boneless chicken thigh that was tender, juicy and flavorful. Biting into was simply divine. The buttered Russet potatoes were da’ bomb. I usually am not a fan of potatoes but this one right here was an exception. Delicious. The combination of the pasta and the grilled chicken was surprisingly nice. It was tasty.
Overall, I had a good time here. I look forward to another visit as they are plenty more dishes to try.
