Serendip Restaurant & Bar at GTower – Sri Lankan food πŸ‘Œ

Today’s lunch was at Serendip, a Sri Lankan restaurant located in GTower, along Jalan Tun Razak. I’ve had no idea this eatery existed until a friend of mine decided that it would make a good place for a short catch up session. In all honestly, I thought Serendip here was in reference to the word Serendipity but nope. Apparently, in the olden days, centuries ago, Sri Lanka was known as Serendip. Huh.

The restaurant is located on the LG floor, where FoodHive is at. FoodHive is a food court of sorts except rather than small sized eateries/stalls stacked next to one another, the ones here seemed like well spaced out food outlets with their own individual areas. It certainly is a favorite among the working folks nearby because come lunch, the floor is filled with people.

Parking was easy, plenty availble at the basement carpark in GTower, at an hourly rate of RM 3.

Kandyan Packet (Chicken), RM31

These rice packets are what I would usually order when I am not in the mood to do the usual rice with curry, meat and vegetables. Sometimes, thinking about all those dishes is too taxing on my overworked brain and so, rice packets are the best. It has rice, gravy, meat and vegetables all mixed into one dish, served wrapped in a banana leaf. It was a tasty, well flavored plate of rice that came with chicken, bell petter, ladies finger, onions, cashews and etc.

Kottu Chicken Idiyappam, RM28

This was an okay dish for me. I suppose we all have our own preferences and I was not feeling it with this dish. It tasted a tad bland and what it came with was fried idiyappam, chicken bits and carrots mostly. I dont know. I guess at RM 28, I expected more.

Sweet Appam, RM 9

The Sweet Appam was nice and made for a nice dessert. The appam was thicker than average, which I liked. Nowadays, this particular dish is getting thinner and smaller by the day, lol. So, I was glad to see that it had a good serving size here. Tastewise, the appam was pretty good, not too sweet.
