Sipping Corner at Ampang – Greens and cakes 😍 (pork free) (Permanently Closed)

Whenever I need some recharging and have time to spare, I usually head to this eatery. In case you do not already know, Sipping Corner is a cafe hidden inside a plant nursery. So, it is a no brainer that one can expect to be surrounded by greens here. I’ve had the most stressful week in a long time and since a day trip out of town is not possible at the moment, this is the best I can do to make myself feel better. Just me and my lonesome self, surrounded by an aesthetically pleasing environment, sipping on a cuppa coffe and biting into a slice of decadent cake. Dessert and greens, a good combination indeed.

Sipping Corner has 2 outlets – Puchong and Ampang. I’ve only ever been to the Puchong branch prior to this, the older one. The one in Ampang is newer, opened doors last year. It took me a good 30 minutes drive to get here from Brickfields. I intentionally opted for the tol free road since its the weekend. No traffic jam.

Parking : There are parking spots right infront Sipping Corner. As I visited on a weekend, most of the other shops were closed, empty spots were plenty and free.

Sipping Corner occupies a corner lot and has 2 floors. The ground floor is their nursery – Plant & Pot Studio, the top floor is the cafe – Sipping Corner.

*** There is NO WIFI here.

Menu

Long Black, RM 9 + Mix Salted Caramel Cake, RM 14

I decided to try their best seller – the Mix Salted Caramel cake. It comes with several layers. On the top is a sprinkle of biscuit crumble and a spread of salted caramel, followed by a layer of dense chocolate cake and then another spread of salted caramel. The bottom layer is made up an airy, fluffy cake. On the side, there is a layer of thickened chocolate ganache. It tasted good, not too sweet. If you are a fan of salted caramel, then this is the cake for you because it takes centerstage here. As it comes in multiple layers with several textures, it will fill you up quickly.

I liked the Long Black here. It was strong and potent. Certainly provided me with that bitter ‘kick’ I looked forward to.

*** As this cafe is located 10 minutes away from the popular Lookout Point, you can extend your trip to this side of town. Perhaps have dinner at the famous Thai Restaurant – Veg Fish Farm Thai Restaurant,( Veg Fish Farm Thai Restaurant @ Hulu Langat, Ampang – A delightful experience. Yum πŸ™‚) and then spend the evening/night enjoying the panaromic view of Kuala Lumpur from the Lookout Point.
