Softcloud Dessert Cafe at VERVE SHOP, Mont Kiara - what's the HYPE about??

Softcloud is yet another cafe that has been making the rounds on various social media platforms of late. The videos and pictures all paint a positive and enticing picture but when you read the written reviews on Google, you’d find some negative things repeatedly mentioned by different people … issues relating to customer service and the souffle pancake prep time, especially when it gets crowded. Taking all this into consideration, I planned my way there to make my trip as pleasant as possible.

This dessert cafe is located on the 1st floor and opens from 1 pm onwards and so, I arrived at 1.20 pm. This is so that I get in before the crowd builds up. It worked because I was literally the 4th person there, most of the cafe was still empty. Fast forward 40 minutes and it was 3/4 full. Yup, the crowd picks up pretty fast here. Customer service was good. I did not encounter any rudeness or lackadaisical attitude.

Parking: Most people park by the roadside, literally everywhere, illegally 😁 but if you want to be a law abiding citizen like me, you can park in the VERVE SHOP basement carpark at a cost of RM 1.20 per hour.

Cocoa Tiramisu Souffle Pancake, RM18

Well, this souffle pancake may be your thing ….. if you like your pancakes with overwhelming egg aftertaste 😩😩. I do not. So, I most probably will not order their pancake variety again. It was simply too eggy for me.

The dish comes with 2 souffle pancakes with a side of whip cream and dark chocolate syrup. The plain pancakes were not too sweet but so very eggy in taste. Thank god for the dark chocolate syrup as that helped in toning it down but it was hardly enough. As the syrup is poured on the outer side of the pancake, there were parts of the inner part that remained untouched by the syrup.

The parts without the syrup was eggy in taste. Soooo eggy. Ughhhhhh. This was not my cup of tea , not my kind of souffle pancake but hey, since this dessert cafe has been going viral and most people do like it….. perhaps I am one of the few that dont.

Would I head back here? I am open to returning and trying out the other types of dessert they offer – waffle, softserve. Maybe I’d have better luck with those.
