I ended up in the area for dinner and while circling around the block, came across this Vietnamese restaurant. After my recent trip to Jane’s Nem – Jane’s Nem at Seksyen 17, PJ – Northern Vietnamese food , I am more open to giving this particular cuisine a try after years of staying away from it.
Gold Standard Pho is located on the quieter side of Hartamas, within the same area the popular Backyard Bar, Super Saigon as well as Hawker Hall. Plenty of parking available.

It is a small and cosy place. There were about 6 tables inside and one table outside. I dropped by at 7 pm and it was already 3/4 full. As time passed, more and more people dropped by and soon enough, it was fully occupied. Customer service was good, we were attended to as soon as we were seated and orders were taken as soon as my friend and I were ready.

Shrimp & Egg Rice Paper Roll, RM 15

I wanted something light, something that will not fill me up and this dish was perfect for me. At times, you’d notice that despite it all being rolled up together, it somehow does not gel well. Here however, the rice paper roll and the filling worked together seamlessly. This was certainly a healthy dish, which included 2 prawns + shredded egg + lettuce. Having it on its own was tasty, dunking it into the sweet peanut sauce that was served on the side was da’ bomb. By the end of the three rolls, I was stuffed. Burp!!
Broken Rice with Chicken, RM 19

This dish was delicious. It consisted of broken rice + egg + seared chicken + pickled vegetable with a side of sweet chili gravy. It was a satisfying rice bowl.
