Mr & Mrs at Cantara Residences, Ara Damansara (Pork free)

Mr & Mrs has been one of those cafes I’ve been wanting to try but never really had the time to because it was located all the way in Ara Damansara. Considering my location, with the little time I have free in between jobs, driving all the way to that side of town was not ideal, hence the delay in visit. Of late though, I’ve seen several food blogs include Mr. & Mrs in their list of new eateries to check out in Petaling Jaya while also regularly appearing on my social media feeds thanks to some of my friends who has been fans of this eatery for the longest time. About time I pay it a visit.

Some background about this cafe: It used to be called Mr & Ms and since 2013, has been located at Oasis Ara Damansara. Eventually, the miss (Ms.) became a missus (Mrs.) and so, the name got updated too. It is now known as Mr & Mrs and as of 3 months ago, has officially moved to a new location – Cantara Residences. It is a relatively new development that includes serviced residences/ condo with an attached retail space on the ground floor. Mr & Mrs. is located here. It is easily accessible with plenty of parking just outside the cafe, free of charge.

Mr & Mrs occupies two floors. Each floor focuses on a different cuisine. The Ground floor serves local, kopitiam food like Nasi Lemak, Roti Bakar, Mee Rebus and etc. The top floor is all about Australian inspired brunch. Just like me, you too may wonder … why different cuisines on different floors? The answer is simple – it is a reflection of what the owner fancies. I was told that the couple behind this cafe have differing taste when it comes to food. The Mr. likes simpler things with nice flavors and is of the mindset that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. For him, local food suites his need. The Mrs. on the other hand prefers food that are more refined, fancier, healthier and so, the Australian brunch themed food works well for her. This dual concept under one roof is great for customers. There are plenty of options available for everyone. Salted Caramel Latte or kopitiam style Kopi? Roti Bakar with Kaya or Egg Benedict? All under one roof.

For now, the cafe opens till 5.30 pm. As of 19th July onwards, Mr & Mrs will be open till 9 pm. If you intend to drop by in a big group (4 pax and more), it is best to make a reservation beforehand.

Menu

** Their Menu has undergone a revamp. Compared to their previous version, you’d notice that the current one has several additions to it.

Egg Malborough with Smoked Salmon, RM 36

A bestseller. When one thinks of Aussie inspired brunch, eggs would cross your mind. In this case, it was Egg Benedict, a brunch staple. The dish consist of English muffin, topped with guacamole, smoked salmon, mushrooms, tomatoes, spinach and poached eggs drizzled with hollandaise sauce. The best part of this dish besides eating it was when the yolk oozed out as soon as we cut into it. That was a sight. Taste-wise, as is the case with Egg Benedict, this too was rich and creamy. It tasted good and certainly filled me up.

Grilled/ Fried Chicken Burger, RM 28

This dish is another bestseller. The chicken burger consist of tender, juicy, boneless chicken thigh, cheese, lettuce, sliced tomatoes in a sesame burger buns with a nice coat of honey mayonnaise spread. Biting into it was simply divine. Different textures, different flavors all in one go. The combination may seem simple but it is guaranteed to fill you up.

Salted Caramel Latte, RM 12

I decided to end my trip here sipping on a warm cup of flavored latte. They offer 4 flavors – Vanilla, Salted Caramel, Hazelnut and Mocha. Since I am a fan of anything with caramel, it is a no brainer which flavor I went for. It was nice. You’d be able to immediately taste the distinct, unique flavor of salted caramel which I liked.

Pistachio Ice Cream

This scoop of deliciousness isn’t in their menu yet as they are still doing some R&D, but it will be – soon. I was lucky enough to be given a taste and it was da’ bomb. Good Pistachio ice cream is rather difficult to come by and this one right here was really good. It was rich, creamy, thick and most importantly, came packed with loads of pistachio, not only in terms of taste but you’d also be able to get bits and pieces of the nuts scattered here and there. Soooo gooood!

Overall, we had a good time at Mr & Mrs. Food was good and despite being busy, customer service did not suffer. Thanks for the invite πŸ™‚
