Balut Kota Damansara Chips Fried Bittergourd Fried Meehoon Nasi Lemak Nasi Lemak Balut Set Sambal Petai Udang Sambal Terengganu

Balut at Sunway Nexis, Kota Damansara – Tasty Nasi Lemak (Halal?)

I was in the area very recently and figured it would be a good time to drop by Balut for lunch. They seem to be doing rather well because when I arrived, it was fullhouse. Ended up waiting 10 minutes for a table.

Parking: Plenty of empty spots available at the basement carpark of Sunway Nexis at a cost of RM1.10 per hour.

Halal? I completely forgot to check its status while I was there, hence the (?). Upon checking its website, it is muslim owned. The cooks/chefs as well as the waitresses are muslims. I noticed many muslims eating here too. If you need more information/confirmation, do reach out to them directly.

Prior to this, the restaurant was known as Feebay.Co and as of this year, was rebranded to Balut. Same owner, different name. You can read more about them here : https://www.feebay.co/about

There are both indoor and outdoor seatings here. I opted to sit inside because it was a quieter setting, it would help with getting some work done. The outdoor area was more boisterous and vibrant.

Menu

Nasi Lemak Balut Set, RM 7.90 + Sambal Udang Petai, RM 9.90

For RM 7.90, what I got served was a good deal. You’d get a serving of fragrant rice with an egg, fried bittergourd, chips, anchovies, kacang, cucumber with a choice of 2 sambals. For the sambal, I opted for Sambal Balut which was somewhat spicy and Sambal T’ganu, which had a nice blend of sweet and spicy, with bits and pieces of fish. It was delicious. I can see why most tables here ordered this very dish. It was lovely. By itself, it was more than enough but I decided to add on some meat on the side.

Ooo man, this Sambal Udang Petai was yummy! It included 7 pieces of prawns and petai. It also included thick, spicy sweet gravy that was perfect to eat with the Nasi Lemak. 😍😍

Mee Hoon Goreng Balut, RM 15.90

I ordered this dish because ordering another rice dish would simply be an overkill. We were almost full after the nasi lemak and this noodle would be a good choice instead. Yea, if it was the usual mamak style fried mee hoon, I’d love it but this was a Singapore style fried meehoon which isn’t my cup of tea. So, I most likely would not order it again. It was an okay dish with a fried egg and a serving of Balut Sambal. However, I think it is best if I stick with what Balut is known best for, their Nasi Lemak as it was delicious.

Would I head back here? For their Nasi Lemak Balut Set – I would 😁
