Bukit Bintang Instagrammable Jalan Sin Chew Kee Lemongrass Chicken Sandwich New cafe June 2022 KL Open Daily Pasta Pesto Pasta Pork Free Sandwich

Breakfast Spot at Jalan Sin Chew Kee, KL (Pork free)

We visited this instagrammable cafe recently, simply to check out what the hype was all about. I’ve been seeing it making the rounds on social media and since I had some time on my hands, it was a good time to check it out. The cafe is located directly opposite another popular cafe – Three Years Old Cafe.

There was some interesting mural on the side of the building….

Ooo yes, it certainly is aesthetically pleasing. The color tone most definitely has a calming effect. I liked that the seating area, especially on the inside, allows for some privacy.

There are two options for seating here. You can either sit on the outer part, which was basically surrounded by glass panels that provided a brighter, ‘under the sky’ type of dining experience or inside. We opted to sit inside because at the time of our visit, the sun was blazing brightly outside.

The Pesto Pasta was good. It was creamy and I liked that the pesto was plenty. The dish also included cherry tomatoes with a sprinkle of grated cheese and rocket greens. Overall, a good dish.

The sandwich was good too but there was simply little chicken. Once you remove the colorful vegetables, you’d get 4 strips of soft, dense chicken with lemongrass sauce. Notice the bread? Those are 2 thick slices of bread…. which literally drowned out the taste of the lemongrass chicken. The chicken tasted good on its own. It was flavorful and tasty but once you add in the bread and the selection of vegetables, it was not the star of the dish anymore. Some folks may not mind that but I do. I prefer the lemongrass chicken to stand out because this was after all a Lemongrass Chicken Sandwich. The dish also included a serving of sweet chili sauce. The chili sauce was not the usual thickened sauce we drizzle over our burgers and sandwiches. Nope. This was the watery version we usually drizzle over noodles. I was skeptical at first but I gave it a go. Poured it over the bread, chicken, vegetables and it was a good addition to the meal. It provided the sandwich with some extra flavor.
