Asam Laksa Pasta New cafe 2022 Sept KL New cafe PJ Sept 2022 Open Daily Pasta Pork Free Rice Bowl Signature Satay Ayam Rice

Belly & The Chef at Section 17, PJ – New kid on the block (Pork free)

New cafe alert!!! We visited this one week old cafe recently. If you are wondering which particular part of Section 17 is this cafe located at, it is in the same area as Tujoh Cafe as well Big Leaf BLR and within the same row as the popular Kwong Wah Ice Kacang.

This is Belly & The Chef’s 4th outlet. The other outlets are in Cheras and OUG. Each outlet has different concepts and focus.

The cafe is located on the FIRST FLOOR.

As you can see, the cafe is located on the first floor. At the time of our arrival, it was full house. There was a waiting line but we were seated within 8 minutes. It was not a long wait.

Customer service was good, food took a little while to arrive though, almost 15 minutes.

Menu

Asam Laksa Pasta, RM 30

This dish is exactly as its name suggest – asam laksa with pasta. It looked like it, it taste like it and it had all the necessary ingredients to make up an asam laksa dish. There was tuna, pineapples, onions, fuchuk, cucumber and etc. The only difference here was rather than the thick glassy noodles, linguine pasta was used instead. It was nice. We kind of knew what we were getting but for its pricing, we expected a more fusion touch to it, something more than it being exactly what it was besides the change up of the noodles.

Signature Satay Ayam Rice, RM 24

This rice bowl, I enjoyed. It was a recommended dish and it was yummy. The dish included pineapple cubes, rocket greens, peanut, white rice and chicken. The white rice was all soft and dense, to a point that no gravy was needed to soften it down. Although, if you needed one, there was a serving of sweet chili sauce that was served on the side. The chicken, it was pan fried and had a nice flavor to it. However, I am still wondering which part of the dish had satay? I assume it’s the chicken but it had zero taste of satay. Satay is distinct, it is a flavor you’d immediately be able to identify and sadly, it was nonexistent in this dish.

Anyways, both dishes were pretty good. It filled me up but who can say no to cendol? Certainly not me. So, off I headed to Kwong Wah, a few doors way and indulged in some yummy cendol yawwwww.

Ooooooo yum! 😍
