Banh Mi Happy Mansion PJ New 2022 : July Pate Pork Ham Roast Pork Spring roll Vietnamese

Jane’s Nem at Happy Mansion, Section 17, PJ – Vietnamese food

During our recent visit to Elsie’s Kitchen ( Elsie’s Kitchen by WanEli at Happy Mansion, Sek. 17, PJ – Oooo yum! ) at Block A, Happy Mansion, I noticed Jane’s Nem next door. This Vietnamese restaurant is one of the more recent additions here, at 2 months old. At first glance, the name did ring a bell. I recall visiting its first outlet near Seventeen Mall, PJ a few months ago ( Jane’s Nem at Seksyen 17, PJ – Northern Vietnamese food ). I remember enjoying the food and so, was excited to drop by their second outlet for a visit.

Between the two, I liked the outlet at Happy Mansion better. It simply is a matter of personal preference. Their first outlet looked more aged, older … which by itself is a character. The seating area wasn’t plenty. The Happy Mansion outlet was a contrast. It had a modern yet homely feel to it, the seating area was more spaced out and for some reason, I liked the food here better.

Menu

Banh Mi Special, RM 14 + Spring Roll, RM 12

Banh Mi

The Banh Mi or what I’d like to refer to as Vietnamese version of a Subway sandwich comes in a variety of options here. I decided to give the Special a try.

The Special Banh Me includes freshly made bread and triple combo meat : pate, pork ham and roasted pork. One thing that was glaringly obvious to me was the difference in the texture of the bread between the two outlets. The one here was softer all around, not as crumbly and flaky. I do not know if it was simply an anomaly that particular day (as I am not a frequent visitor) but the softer version made the overall dish a whole lot more nicer. The filling tasted good. Within the filling itself there were different textures – the soft ham and the solid, chewy roast pork .. it was yummy, me like.

The Spring Roll I ordered for no reason other than intending to stuff myself full 😅😅. Every now and then, the mood to ‘hantam’ strikes and it was one of those day. I figured, rather than indulging in some calorie – laden dessert, might as well go for something healthier yet filling. Hence the spring rolls. There were 2 options of meat available of which I opted for the chicken + prawn combo. With every mouth taken, you’d be able to taste the lettuce, turnip, carrot and some meat. It tasted good.

Overall, it was a good visit to Jane’s Nem. Would I head back here? Yes, I would.
