Baby Kailan with Garlic Chinese Easy Parking Homemade Bean Curd with Minced Pork Kung Pao Chicken Since 1987 SS2 PJ

New Paris Restaurant at SS 2, PJ

This restaurant was more nostalgic for me than anything else. It used to be a small shack/stall by the roadside from late 80’s to early 00’s. I only discovered it towards the end, was a regular then and since they closed, I have not been back. So, finally visiting New Paris after a long time and that too in a different setting was a new experience but nostalgic nonetheless.

New Paris is a neighborhood restaurant, you’d see the regulars dropping by for their usual dinner sessions, friends get-togethers as well as family gatherings. It is a large restaurant, occupies 3 shoplots. Parking was rather easy as New Paris is located away from the always crowded, traffic congestion prone area of SS2.

Customer service was great. We were immediately attended to and was provided assistance whenever necessary.

*** PAYMENT: They ONLY ACCEPT CASH here 😐

The Kung Pao Chicken was yummy. The chicken was nice and chewy, with a softer outer layer. Accompanied with lots of dried chili, onions, lemongrass. Tasted a little sweet, a tad ketchuppy, with a pleasant amount of spicyness. It was a perfect dish to eat with the rice

The Homemade Bean Curd with minced pork and preserved radish was delicious and good enough to eat on its own. It was soft and dense and together with the tasty minced meat made up a good dish. The Baby Kailan tasted as it should. A good addition to the rice.

Overall, food was good but not as memorable as it used to be. Regardless, I’ll be back for another visit. The restaurant is big, does not feel stuffy and crowded despite the front half of the restaurant being fully occupied. As mentioned, customer service was awesome. Food arrived surprisingly fast, it tasted good.
