Sometimes, when I have no idea on where and what to eat, I find myself heading to Uptown. Here, one is literally spoilt for choice because of the high number of restaurant and cafes in the area as well as a variety of cuisine available. It was one of those days this time and so, here I was at Uptown. While driving around the block, I came across this Asian Fusion restaurant – Hey! What’s Cooking?
We dropped by after lunch hour and so, there wasn’t much of a crowd. We were immediately attended to. The lady owner was welcoming and friendly, had a smile on her face whenever she spoke. Once seated, we were informed of their popular and best sellers. Then, proceeded to place our order.
Sweet Potato Balls + Nasi Lemak Pandan Ayam Penyet, RM 14.90 + Nasi Goreng Ayam Geprek, RM 15.90
The Sweet Potato balls were on the house, free of charge. It was a good, tasty snack. A dish one can order when one simply wants something to munch on or as a starter, as it wouldn’t fill your stomach up. The balls were chewy and bouncy, a delight to bite into.
The main dishes ordered were tasty too. The Nasi Lemak Pandan with Ayam Penyet is one of their bestsellers, a local and Indonesian fusion dish. It is not the usual Nasi Lemak one would find here. The dish included rice, egg, cucumber, peanuts, tempe, prawn crackers, a spicy Indonesian sambal that has a garlic and chili base and a large piece of chicken thigh. The sambal was spicy, a little goes a long way. The Nasi Goreng with Ayam Grepek included fried rice with tempe, prawn crackers, chicken, cucumber and sambal. Compared to the other sambal, this one had a tomato base and was less spicy. It was surprisingly tasty, no overwhelming taste of tomato was evident. When eaten with the fried rice and chicken, it made up one yummy dish.
Overall, we had a good time here. Would I head back here? Yes, I look forward to giving the other items on the menu a try.
