As a result of back to back meetings this morning, I ended up missing breakfast. No breakfast, no brunch … just four cups of Long Black to keep me going. I finally had some free time at 2 pm and decided to drop by this new, one month old cafe. My sweet tooth started acting up seeing how I’ve been neglecting to satisfy my sweet cravings of late. Since I have some free time on my hands, best thing to do was to head to a dessert cafe.
Doux Doux is a dessert cafe that serves mainly French sweet and savory dishes. Being new, a month old, one can find canele, croissant, brioche, souffle and etc here. It is strategically located within the row of shops facing Seventeen Mall in Section 17, Petaling Jaya. If you are unable to find a parking spot by the roadside, you can park at the mall carpark (RM1 for first two hours) and walk over. No sweat.
The cafe is located on the first floor, next to KK Mart. You can easily see it from the roadside, just be sure to look up as it is not located on the ground floor. Once you are there, just head on up the stairs and you’ve arrived. First, you will be greeted by the waitress upon arrival and you’d immediately be able to see the food display area showcasing the desserts they offer for the day. Order and pay at the counter. Then, take a seat, relax and allow the French music playing in the background to serenade you.

Menu

Varlhona 70% Dark Chocolate Canele, RM 12 + Tuna & Egg Mayo Croissant, RM 6 + French Brioche with Truffle butter, RM 15

I ordered too much, didn’t I? Yup, I did. All three dishes were served at the same time and I decided to start off with the French Brioche. The loaf by itself cost RM 10, was sliced into five pieces and heated up before served. If you need butter with the bread, they offer two options – seaweed or truffle butter, at a cost of RM 5. I went with the truffle butter and it was an awesome choice. If you are a fan of truffle as I am, you’ll certainly enjoy it. I had plenty of fun cutting off sizeable chunks of truffle butter to be eaten with my bread and I definitely relish every moment of it. Yum! By the time I reached the end of the fifth slice, I was almost full. Almost.

The next to go was the croissant. All croissants here are of the mini version. 2,3 mouths in and it’s gone, finished. Lucky for me, it was good enough. After the brioche, I had little space left to indulge. So, the mini croissant was much appreciated.
The Varlhona Dark Chocolate Canele was delicious. Despite the 70% Dark Chocolate, there wasn’t any overwhelming bitterness tastewise. What I tasted was good chocolate, not too sweet but pleasant enough. The canele had a solid outer layer with a fudge-like inner layer.

Very nice. Worth a try.
Would I head back here? Yes. I intend to try more of the canele as well as the Souffle next.
