This was an accidental discovery. I was stuck in a rush hour traffic that seemed like it was neverending. 15 minutes after, I decided to drive into this part of Seksyen 17 (area near Seventeen Mall) in hope of finding a good spot to wait it out. While doing a drive by around the block, I noticed Bubba Afters.
Bubba Afters is rather unique. It is a collaborative venture between a honey supplier and a patisserie. Bubba Bee, the honey supplier, supplies good quality honey sourced from our Malaccan forest and T2G Patisserie, provides freshly baked cakes and desserts. I for one think that this certainly is one interesting collaboration.
Bubba Afters provided me with the perfect setting to destress while getting some work done. It was relatively quiet. I had a good drink, munch on a simple yet tasty tuna sourdough sandwich and ended my visit here feasting on a Russian cake.
Raw Honey Orange Soda, RM 13
I do not usually like any drink with soda in it, I detest gassy drinks but this one I liked. Seeing that honey is a big thing here, it would make sense that I order a drink from the ‘Raw Honey’ section. When asked which is most popular, I was told that the Orange Soda was. I reluctantly ordered it but I’m glad I did. Firstly, the soda/gassy aspect was rather mild – which I liked. Secondly, the taste of good quality honey was evident. It complemented the orange soda very well. Lastly, the orange citrus taste provided a refreshing and cool effect. I loved it.
Tuna Melt Sourdough Sandwich, RM 18
This sandwich was surprisingly filling. I liked that the sand filling was generous. The tuna was spread all over, a good amount. It tasted good, simple and fresh. The sourdough itself was good, the slight sourness from the bread complement the overall sandwich well.
Russian Honey Cake, RM 14
Well, it is not everyday that I come across a Russian cake and certainly not one as affordably priced at RM 14. I loved it!!! True to the charasteristic of a Russian cake, this too came with a repeat of layers. A pleasant mix of soft, dense and crumbly. The star here to me was the honey. That sort of glued it all together to provide me with an awesome feast in my mouth. Every time I cut into the dessert, I saw honey dripping down, making its was from top to the bottom of the cake. It was not overwhelming at all. I love it. I most definitely would not mind having it again.
Seeing how I enjoyed myself here, I will surely be dropping by Bubba Afters for another visit.
