We drove past this cafe on our way to lunch recently, decided to drop by and check them out soon after. Tucked within a relatively quiet row of shops, this cafe stood out in its newer modernity, in contrast to the rest of the businesses within that row that has been around for years. Other notable eateries along this row are 3A Yong Tau Foo and Restoran Green View.

The interior is white, pristine. It had a strong English, European style influence, if I am not mistaken. A perfect setting to have afternoon tea, which is what Petit Bites Patisserie is known for. They started off as an online business that provides afternoon tea. They are after all “The House of Afternoon Tea”, as stated at the entrance of this cafe. Would it be weird for me to say that I’ve never indulged in the classic afternoon tea before? I’ve always associated the classic afternoon tea with fancy schmancy and indulgence. However, thinking about it,I think everyone deserves some pampering every now and then, right? Perhaps I shall give it a go one of these days and see what the hype is about, ey?
These are some of the afternoon tea sets they offer:

As my visit here was right after lunch, naturally there was no indulging in their afternoon tea. Instead, I went for their individual desserts.

Walnut Carrot Cake, RM 12

This was a surprisingly light dessert because the cake was not dense. It was generally light and crumbly with some crunchyness from the walnuts. It tasted good, like a carrot cake should.
Hazelnut Royaltine Petit Gateau, RM 36

One of the pastry chef at Petit Bites Patisserie is an ex Shangri-La chef …. most definitely reputable. I was also told that this particular dessert was a favorite of the Sultanah of Terengganu when it was served there. Oooo my. It is not everyday I get to eat something that a royalty likes and so, I went for itlah.
If you like chocolate, then you may like this. It sure was chocolatty, rich and potent. Every mouth taken, you’d get that rich, thick, moist chocolate with crunchy bits. So, safe to say, if you are not a fan of chocolate, you may not enjoy this. Lucky for me that I am and so, I enjoyed it but it sure was one pricey dessert. It may not be for everyone.
