Sugar and I at SS 14, Subang Jaya - Bombolonis and desserts (muslim owned)

So, I finally managed to make my way to this viral, popular dessert cafe. What is it known for? Bombolonis. Them round, fluffy yet dense Italian style doughnuts with fillings…. yum! I’ve been seeing this dessert making its round on social media of late and it got me salivating for some. Weeks later, here I was.

The dessert cafe is small, warm and cosy. They have 4 – 5 tables for customers to sit at but based on what I observed, most of them tend to opt for takeaway. I noticed a few of them taking away bombolonis by the dozen. Perhaps for ‘buka puasa’ with the family, ya? It sure does make a good dessert.

For you PJ Folks, as of a week ago, Sugar & I have opened another outlet at Starling Mall, Uptown Damansara. Closer to home, ey? There is no need to drive all the way to Subang Jaya now that they are available at this mall.

4 Piece Bomboloni Combo, RM 29

The bombolonis here comes in 2 sizes – the usual and the minis. You can either choose it individually or you can opt for combos. Me beeing the greedy loony that I am when it comes to desserts, I of course went for the larger sized ones, a combo of 4.

The flavors of my choice were Nutella, Lotus Biscoff, Belgian Chocolate and their newest addition, Pandan Gula Melaka.

The bombolonis were light, fluffy yet dense and chewy. While the texture was good, the best part were the filling… lots of it. They’ve stuff the bomboms with lots of filling that every mouth taken, you’d be able to taste it. My favorite between the 4 is the Nutella and the Lotus Biscoff. Sedappppp 👌👌 Creamy and rich, surely fattening too but some indulging once in a while is okaylah 😁

Cinnamon Roll, RM 7.90

This was a delicious Cinnamon Roll, a large piece. It was dense, soft and in my opinion, best eaten after it’s warmed up. I loved the fact that there was alot of cinnamon spread, from start to end. So, every mouth you take, you are bound to taste the cinnamon. Nowadays, at times, elsewhere, they dont even bother to spread the cinnamon fully. Its just here and there, sometimes I end up biting into empty dough. Here, that isnt the case. As mentioned above, you’d be able to taste that cinnamon from start to end. Yum!

Would I head back here? Yesss, I would but rather than head all the way to Subang Jaya, I’d rather give their new outlet at Starling Mall a try, as that is closer to home.
