Eastern Kopitiam at SS 2, PJ - Good stuff

On my way back home from work recently, I noticed this kopitiam tucked in a corner. I’m always open to giving kopitiams a try because there is something I find appealing in what it represents. A pleasant mix of modernity with old school simplicity. So yea, was looking forward to that here.

Evidently, this kopitiam is a neighborhood favorite. Yes, I know… I am aware that there are sooo many restaurants and cafes within this karea and that this kopitiam is simply one of them. Despite that however, it was almost fully occupied during lunch hour, mostly by the folks working nearby in addition to those living in the area. Service was good. We were attended to rather quickly and food arrived within expected time.

Roti Bakar, RM 3.90

We decided to start off with Roti Bakar. Toasted white bread with a nice spread of kaya and a small cube of butter. Simple yet tasty.

Signature Curry Mee, RM 13.90 + Kampung Fried Rice with Chicken Wing, RM 13.90

There was a variety of options but we ended up going for their bestsellers. For the Curry Mee, I’d usually go for mee hoon as a choice of noodle but this time, I opted to leave it as it was. The yellow mee was a perfect choice in this case. It went well with the somewhat thick, flavorful curry. The dish also included tauhu, fuchuk, cockles and meat.

As for the other dish. I enjoyed that too. The Kampung Fried Rice had the distinct taste that comes with this particular dish. It tasted yummy and would have been even better if they added some anchovies 😁. The fried chicken wing by itself was tasty. The outer layer the chicken was coated in wasn’t just crunchy, it tasted good too thanks to some sort of flavoring they added on. Eating the chicken and fried rice together was yummy.

Overall, we liked the ambiance and the dishes we had were good. I would not mind heading back here to try the other items on their menu.
