Heritage Kopitiam at Ara Damansara

We finally visited this somewhat hidden yet popular kopitiam in Ara Damansara recently. It is not as obvious and noticeable by the roadside and so, best to use Waze as an indicator if you are not familiar with the area. The kopitiam is also small and if you visit during peak hours a.k.a lunchtime, be prepared to wait for a table if its fullhouse.

Parking: Easy. Plenty of spots available. Everyone simply parks by the roadside, free of charge.

Menu

Kopi Peng, RM 2.80 + Butter, Kaya Bun, RM 3.90

The Kopi Peng was a tad too watery for my liking but flavor was good, strong coffee strength.

This was a good starter. A kopitiam staple, a tad different than the usual roti bakar whereby rather than toast bread, bun was used instead. The bun was soft, warm and with a good spread of kaya and butter, it was tasty.

Mee Siam with Fried Chicken, RM 9.90

This is a crowd favorite here and it was a simple, tasty dish. It includes a good portion of mee hoon + egg + sambal + fried chicken. You’d get an ol’ school feel with this dish. It was yummy in its simplicity. The sambal was a good addition. It was flavorful but not too spicy. When eaten with the fried chicken and noodles, it made a good combination.

Curry Mee, RM 8.80

This was another crowd favorite. It took 20 minutes for this dish to arrive at my table. During peak hours, its takes a while to reach you. The other people seated at your table may have finished eating their dishes by the time yours finally arrived.

Tastewise, it was decent but too diluted for my liking. It was one of those instances whereby it had a nice flavor but shame, it was a little too watery. The bowl of noodles also included long beans, chicken, tauhu and cockles.

Would I head back here? Most probably not. I am not an Ara Damansara native, driving here took a while. I’d rather head to a kopitiam closer to home.
