Ever since I saw a post about Since 18’s on social media, I’ve been wanting to drop by for a visit. Why? Their extremely realistic chocolates. Chocolates that look like they should be in a toolbox rather than on display in a cafe. I was curious, curious to see if they actually looked as good and as real as they did.

The eatery itself was rather interesting, a tad peculiar too. If you are at the entrance, from the outside without looking in, it is easy to assume that Since 18’s is some sort of bar/lounge thanks to the high tables and chairs. Once you head in though, it’s a different setting. Heavy olden day English influence, Elizabethan decor … dark wood, white wall, chandelier, ol’ school painting and etc. I liked it as it certainly isn’t the usual setting I’m used to. I visited during lunch hour, 15 minutes after they opened for the day at noon and it was quiet. I had the place all to myself and managed to get some work done in the process.
Anyways… the chocolates, did they look as amazing as the hype surrounding it? Yess, they did. Realistic.

As tempting as it looked, I opted out of giving them a try as I needed something more solid for lunch.
Menu

Fried Nasi Lemak, RM 21.90

I opted for the Set Lunch (available from 12 pm – 2 pm), which included a glass of free Ice Lemon Tea.

Food was good. I especially enjoyed the Fried Nasi Lemak. It did not taste that much different from a normal Nasi Lemak except for the rice, which resembled a plain fried rice. The sambal was delicious, I finished the first serving within minutes. As I still had more than half the rice left, I requested for more. Certain sambal manages to evoke nostalgic memories, memories from your younger days.. this was one of those sambal for me. It tasted similar to the sambal I’ve had back in primary school. Fond memories. Eating it with the tender fried chicken, rice and peanuts was satisfying.
All in all, I had a fulfilling lunch here. My stomach was full and satisfied. Would I head back here? Most likely not as this is not an area I visit frequently.
