SS Spicy Food at Kampung Attap – Tasty Indian food (pork free)

We were craving for some Indian ‘chap fan’ recently but rather than going to our usual spots, we were hoping to try a new place. A friend coincidentally mentioned this eatery and the tasty food it offeredand that was how we ended up at SS Spicy Food.

It is basically a large stall/ restaurant, at the corner of a roadside, under the tree. It is located within walking distance from the Maharajalela train station and less than 10 minutes away from Brickfields, Petaling Street and KL City Centre. Parking was easy, everyone parked by the roadside. If you visit during peak hours though, you may need to go around the block a few times as all empty spots may be occupied.

As you can see, they offer a wide variety of dishes for both meat and vegetables. For lunch, if you are not in the mood for rice, they also serve chapati and roti.

Chicken Biryani, RM 13

I opted to go for their Chicken Biryani. It included soft, fluffy long grained rice with tender chicken thigh, egg, cucumber and gravy (chicken + mutton curry). Oooo yum! The dish tasted like biryanis you’d get at Indian weddings. There is something special about it, different from the usual biryanis served at restaurants. It was simple yet delicious. Yea, this dish tasted just like that. I enjoyed it. Burp!

Rice + Chicken Parathal + 3 vegetables, RM 16

With this kind of eatery, RM 16 is perhaps the most we’ve paid for a single dish …. but keep in mind that my friend took large portions of each sides. The Chicken Parathal alone was good enough for 2. So, in a way, it made sense. My favorite eatery to have Indian food will still be Lavanya Food Corner in Brickfields but I’d certainly add SS Spicy Food onto the list too as food tasted good. The parathal was tasty, flavorful but not as spice laden as I would prefer. It still tasted good regardless. The 3 vegetables – taugeh, bittergourd and melon had a homecooked feel to it which I liked very much.

I am glad I discovered SS Spicy Food. I like the variety of dishes they offer as well as its strategic location. Another visit here soon is certainly in the books.
