After visiting HHS – HHS Eatery at Seksyen 17, PJ β A quiet spot with tasty food (Pork free) the other day for lunch, we noticed Kampung Dining on our way out. It was after lunch hour but the eatery was bustling with activities and people. We told ourselves we’ll drop by for a visit one of these days and here we were.
Kampung Dining is located in Section 17, Petaling Jaya. It is on the Ground floor and nestled within the same row of shops as Kanna Curry House, Omulab and Aroi Mak Mak.

The atmosphere here was jovial. The crowd is a mix of older office folks and friends get-together. It was a loud and boisterous environment. I liked it as it was an overall happy atmosphere.
As mentioned before, if you visit during lunch hour, the restaurant is bound to be crowded. If you noticed that all tables are occupied, worry not as there is a waiting list at the entrance of Kampung Dining for you to put your name down. Customer service was good and food arrived rather quickly despite the crowd.
Menu

Cendol Gula Melaka (Regular), RM 7.50

This dessert comes in 3 sizes here – Super Mini, Regular & Jumbo, we opted for the Regular size which is about the same size everywhere else.
The Cendol was nice and refreshing. It was not overly sweet with just the right amount of Gula Melaka. On a hot day, this was an awesome dessert.
Me Siam Ayam Rendang, RM 16.90

Oooo, this dish was delicious. If you guyd want some good Mee Siam, this is where you can get it. One can choose to have the noodles on its own or add on Chicken Rendang. My suggestion would be to add on the meat. The rendang was da’ bomb! The gravy itself was flavorful and the meat, literally drops off the bone, soft and tender. Soo good π and a perfect addition to the Mee Siam. I’d certainly order this dish again.
Pork Lard Nasi Lemak with Crackling SiuYuk, RM 22.90

Aaaaa, the dish was delicious and all but I was a tad let down with the meat. For the amount paid for this Nasi Lemak, 5 pieces of Siuyuk that was cut into halves seemed like a small portion. It was hardly enough to cover the dish π€π€
Anyways, this dish was included in their Top Dishes list. Hence why I went for it. Add in the fact that it has been ages since I’ve last had siuyuk, I was looking forward to having a taste of it here. It included two types of sambal – a sweet but spicy sambal and a sour-ish sambal. Between the two, I preferred the sweet and spicy sambal because it went really well with the rest of the ingredients on the plate. The meat was good but as mentioned earlier, portion size was on the small side.
Would I head back here? Yes, I would. I wouldn’t mind going for another plate of Mee Siam with Chicken Rendang and give their Nyonya Curry Laksa a try.
