ROTI by d’Tandoor at Kampung Datuk Keramat, KL – An Indian restaurant in a bungalow (Pork free)

Located in the same area as several other popular eateries like RGB Cafe and Mori Kohi, is this Indian restaurant serving Northern Indian cuisine. As I am not one to regularly hang out at this side of town, I did not know it existed until a work meet brought me there. Unfortunately on that day, it happened after I’ve had my lunch, so a drink was all I had. I did tell myself though that I’d be back soon. Fast forward a few weeks, here I was, on empty stomach just so that I could give their food a try.

I’d put ROTI on the same level as Passage Thru India, more on the fancier side. The similarities end there though. Look-wise, ambiance and feel differs. Nevertheless, both are equally suitable for get-togethers, meetups and meetings. As mentioned in the heading, ROTI by d’Tandoor is restaurant located in a house, a bungalow. I for one, am a fan.

Menu

Garlic Cheese Naan, RM 13.90

The roti was served in a basket and included four pieces of Garlic Cheese Naan. Texturewise, it was slightly thick but surprisingly moist and dense. I love that there were plenty of garlic sprinkled on the top in addition to a good amlunt of cheese within the roti. Biting into it was awesome. Do keep in mind that this naan can fill you up and make you full. Best enjoyed on an empty stomach.

Mughlai Murg Briyani, RM 39.90

Oooo this briyani was delicious. It had a large portion size. One briyani was good enough to feed 2 people. It was flavorful and dense – a combination I like because that would mean that it requires no gravy. More often than not, I find that adding gravy to a dish of this kind sort of dilutes its flavoring. In this case, you’d get to taste the briyani as it is. Besides the flavorful rice, the dish also includes pieces of tender chicken, peanuts, cashewnuts and raisins.

All in all, I had a good time at ROTI by d’Tandoor. I like the restaurant in a bungalow concept, the ambiance as well as the food. I wouldn’t mind another visit in the near future.
