There is a recent addition to the F&B scene in Damansara Kim. Food enthusiasts, myself included, love flocking the area especially on weekends to enjoy the variety of cuisines this single row of shops offer. The latest to join the gastronomic landscape here is Huáng Soy Bar. As its name suggest, it offers a variety of soy based desserts and more.

The cafe is located on the first floor, above Sin Yoon Seng and next to the popular Thai restaurant, Kompassion.
The size of the cafe certainly took me by surprise. From the outside, it was easy to assume that Huáng would occupy a small lot but then as you head up the stairs and into the cafe, you’d realise that the cafe is large and spacious. I love the ol’ school, retro vibe feel here. It was tastefully decorated and reminded me of homes back in the 80’s. If I was in need of a place where I can relax and unwind while sipping on some soupy warm dessert, Huáng may just be my new favorite spot.

Leng Chee Kang, RM 8.50

It has been ages since I’ve last had Leng Chee Kang and seeing it available here, I decided to go for it. As it was raining and the temperature was rather cool, this warm soupy dessert was a perfect choice to get me heated up. Not only was it not too sweet, it also included lots of ingredients which consisted of longan, red dates, peach gum, winter melon, aloe vera and gingko. I enjoyed this dessert.
Huang Signature, RM 12

If you are in the mood for a simple and light dessert, this could be it. It consisted of soy milk, grass jelly and taro balls. There are 3 options for sugar: Gula Melaka, White Ginger syrup and Unsweetened. I opted for Ginger Syrup and it was a perfect choice for me as it added some uniqueness to the dish. With every scoop, the slight ginger sweetness was evident. The chewy taro balls provided some texture. As a whole, I enjoyed this soy dessert.
All in all, I had a good time here. Would I head back here for another visit? Yes, I most definitely would. The charming café ambiance, the variety of dessert options, and good customer service contributed to my favorable impression. It is certainly worthy of a return visit.
