I have been one of the many commuters who regularly utilize the Dato Onn roundabout to access different areas in Kuala Lumpur. However, I must admit that I have not come across Medan Selera D’Tebing, even though it is situated along the roadside of the roundabout. It seems to blend into the surrounding greenery and is somewhat secluded, hidden.
Based on my observation, it appears that there is no designated parking area within the food court/medan selera. Good news is, there is a basement carpark located less than 5 minutes away.
Parking: So, behind/next to Medan Selera D’Tebing is St. Mary’s Cathedral and Kelab Diraja Selangor. In between the church and the clubhouse, there is a road that leads you to Dataran Merdeka. Drive along that road until you see this…

Do park at the Plaza Putra basement carpark. It is at one corner of Dataran Merdeka. From the carpark to Secret Briyani, it was a 5 minutes walk.

Menu

ABC Biasa, RM 3

On a hot day, this would be an affordably priced refreshing drink/dessert. It consisted of shaved ice, rose bandung syrup and peanuts. Given that it is cheap, understandably, there was no red beans, grass jelly, corn and etc. Nevertheless, it was still enjoyable slurping into it. As it was on the sweeter side, I only managed to gulp down half of it.
Chicken Dum Briyani, RM 17.90 + Prawn Sambal Briyani, RM 20

Food was tasty. The briyani rice was moist and dense, with a good flavor. No gravy was necessary, it was good enough to eat on its own. Both plates ncluded a serving of gravy, raita, an egg and meat of your choice. The prawn sambal included 5 pieces of prawns with gravy that was a pleasant mix of spicy and sweetness. The chicken was soft and tender, just like one you’d expect with a Dum Briyani.
Overall, this visit to Secret Briyani was a positive experience. Discovering new eateries has always been fun, such was the case here too. Food was good, the briyani was enjoyable. Would I return here for another visit? Yea, once in a blue moon perhaps.
