Pyro at Damansara Kim, PJ – A new addition to the area (Pork free)

Damansara Kim has undergone a significant transformation over the past decade, evolving into an epicenter of sorts for gastronomic delights. Once comprised of a modest row of establishments catering to the basic needs of the neighborhood that surrounds it, this area has now blossomed into a culinary haven. Situated conveniently between Uptown Damansara and TTDI, Damansara Kim’s tranquil ambiance, ample parking, and diverse range of dining options have garnered attention from discerning food enthusiasts and restaurateurs alike.

PYRO is set to join the culinary lineup in the area as its latest addition. With its grand opening scheduled for Saturday, September 16th, this wood grill concept restaurant promises to captivate the palates of discerning food enthusiasts. Led by an accomplished chef, who has honed their skills at Burnt End, a prestigious Michelin-starred establishment in Singapore, PYRO offers an East meets West cuisine. Food will reflect influences from Asia, Carribean, Western and more. Despite having a small, limited Menu, rest assured that one will be able to experience varying cuisines in one sitting.

The interior exudes an atmosphere of exclusivity, courtesy of its dim lighting, elegant grey walls, and tasteful rustic decor. It presents an ideal environment for an elegant evening dining experience, serving patrons from 6 pm to 11 pm every day except Wednesdays.

Menu

We were provided with a sampling of the culinary offerings featured in their Chef Selection. The dining experience commenced with a serving of fresh oyster.

Next was Grissini with Anchovies Cream. It was made up of a paper thin, crisp sourdough cracker, topped with anchovies cream which to me tasted like yummy tuna spread, garnished with spring onions. This dish, I enjoyed and wished I had more.

In addition to their own interpretation of Fish & Chips, which I found intriguing, their presentation featured a base layer of delicately sliced, tender potatoes, adorned with a serving of fish and caviar. It is important to approach this dish with an open mind, as it deviates significantly from the traditional notion of fish and chips. The flavors harmonized well, resulting in an enjoyable culinary experience.

The following dish is the Jamaican Chicken. It features tender meat complemented by a delicately crisp, thin layer of skin. The texture of the chicken showcases the meticulous preparation that involves oven baking as the cooking method.

The Leek & Hazelnut was a healthy dish with differing textures. A pleasant mix of soft and crunchy, it was a simple yet tasty plate of vegetables.

Smoked Quail Egg with Caviar was next.

The Grilled Chicken dish was delightful. It featured a bed of pumpkin puree, topped with meat. The chicken was grilled and then oven-baked, resulting in a tender yet chewy texture. The slight sweetness of the crispy skin complemented the overall flavor profile of the dish.

The grilled fish was delectable. The selection of Threadfin for grilling was spot on, resulting in a flawlessly prepared dish. The accompanying orange paste, crafted from a tasteful mix of belacan and chili, elevated the overall flavors and contributed to an utterly satisfying dish.

Lastly, Creme Brulee for dessert. Yummy creamy custard topped with a thin layer or caramelized sugar. It was delectable, yum!
