GoodMem at Lorong Maarof, Bangsar - A recent addition

Lorong Maarof is a familiar dining spot for us. Many of us have grown up in Bangsar and surrounding areas, which is why it is customary for us to return to a few select restaurants that remind us of home and bring back fond memories. For me, Lorong Maarof holds a special place in my heart. Over the years, I have been a regular patron at the popular HSBC Restaurant, and more recently, I have also frequented Piccoli Lotti and Kedai Coklat for their gelatos and cakes, which I simply cannot resist thanks to my sweet tooth. Naturally, whenever a new establishment appears along this row of shops, it captures my attention, as was the case with GoodMem.

If my understanding serves me correctly, GoodMem has been operating for a period of two to three weeks. They offer dishes that are regarded as local favorites, as well as those typically found in our local kopitiam. Notably, their menu includes popular dishes like Nasi Lemak Chicken Rendang, Chili Pan Mee, and Mee Siam.

If you peruse the menu, you will notice that the Lunch Set includes a main dish accompanied by a drink, specifically Ice Lemon Tea. For an additional RM 2, one has the option to upgrade the Ice Lemon Tea to Hainan Coffee. Given that we ordered two lunch sets, we were able to sample both options. While the Ice Lemon Tea was refreshing, I would recommend the upgrade to Hainan Coffee for coffee enthusiasts. The TipTop Hainan Coffee offered a delightful experience, boasting a thick, robust, and potent flavor profile.

The Nasi Lemak Ayam Rendang included the usual ingredients one would expect with this dish. It was a pretty good dish, I especially enjoyed the Chicken Rendang. It was a chicken thigh piece than was tender, the gravy flavorful with some hints of sweetness. It complemented the rest of the dishes well.

The Chili Pan Mee is one of GoodMem’s signature dishes. The noodles possess a delightful texture that harmonizes seamlessly with the rest of the ingredients, such as a poached egg, minced meat paired with scallions, and anchovies. When thoroughly mixed, it resulted in an enjoyable bowl of noodles.
