Veranda at Telawi, Bangsar – Aesthetically pleasing eatery serving yummy Indian food (Muslim friendly)

Veranda – South on a Platter stands as one of the most recent establishments in the F&B landscape of Bangsar. Situated along the renowned Telawi stretch, this dining establishment specializes in Indian cuisine. True to its name, the eatery places its primary emphasis on South Indian cuisine, encompassing culinary influences from Andhra to Kerala.

The restaurant has been designed to resemble Indian homes. The windows, the dividers, the ceiling, tile work, color scheme, and decorations harmonize effectively, creating a cohesive setting that exudes a feeling of tranquility and pleasantness. Undoubtedly, this eatery is one I would deem aesthetically appealing.

Menu

Karaikudi Chicken Briyani, RM 22 + The Veranda Thali (Chicken) RM 23

Karaikudi Chicken Briyani
Veranda Chicken Thali

The Karaikudi Chicken Biryani was delectable and served in an appropriate portion size for an individual. In contrast to other establishments where the biryani serving could suffice for two, here it is tailored for one person. The ratio between rice and meat was equal, with four medium-sized, boneless chicken pieces, an egg, and flavorful, tender rice. It was accompanied by a side of curry and raita. The dish was thoroughly enjoyable and possessed a delightful flavor.

The Veranda Chicken Thali is perfect for someone who likes a little bit of everything. It offers a portion of eight different components, encompassing three vegetable dishes, two gravies, one meat entrée, yellow rice, and the dessert payasam, complemented by a serving of white rice and crackers. Despite its unassuming appearance, this dish is guaranteed to satiate and delight with its diverse medley of flavors.

Indian Spices Village at Bangsar – Yummy Indian food 😍 (Pork free)

For some reason, despite being a regular in the area, I’ve missed the existence of this Indian restaurant. It was not until a recent catch-up session among friends that I took note of it.

If you guys are worried about about the road congestion and difficulty in parking, do not worry as Indian Spices Village is not located within the popular Telawi area. Instead, it is located along Lorong Maarof, within the same row as HSBC Restaurant and WTF Bangsar.

The restaurant itself was comfortable, air-condotioned. Customer service was good, we were immediately attended to.

Menu

Chicken Keema Thosai, RM13

This thosai was delicious and it will fill you up. The chicken filling was very generous, perhaps enough to fill more than half the thosai. I loved it. The chicken was tasty, had plenty of flavor and oooo, spicy too. The thosai is served with a side of mint chutney, chicken curry and sambar which was flavorful by itself but I did not need it because the chicken filling itself was more than enough. By the end of it, I was full. This thosai was a meal by itself.

Chicken Dun Biryani, RM 15

The biryani too was delicious. This dish comes with 2 options, whether you’d like fried chicken or steamed chicken, we opted for the latter and it was a good choice. There were 2 medium/large sized chicken pieces of tender and soft chicken meat that was perfect to eat with the rice. The dish also came with a side of curry, raita and an egg.

Kothu Chicken Idiyappam, RM 11

The Kothu Chicken Idiyappam was tasty. It resembled eating an Indian styled mee hoon dish. It was a good portion size, included lots of idiyappam, eggs, chicken, onions and curry leaves. Delicious.

Would I head back here? Of course. It was a good experience all around. I’d be back for another visit very soon.
