Famous Seremban Favorites @ Aman Suria – Yummy Wan Tan Mee

Ever heard of this restaurant? No? Yea, me too. Never knew it existed but apparently, some of my ‘machas’ did. They were like “Deyyy, let’s go hantam some wan tan mee and chicken rice”  but I wasn’t feeling it. I’ve been having quite a bit of noodles and char siew/chicken rice of late and so, I felt kindda reserved about the whole thing. It felt like I literally needed a break from these particular dishes but my friends, they were pretty adamant at having lunch there and so here I was, tagging along albeit reluctantly.

This restaurant has been around for more than a decade and it looks it 🙂 I like it, it simply is your plain ol’ neighborhood Chinese shop. If you are in the mood for something fancy, an eatery that resembles a modern, chic restaurant – this is not it, look elsewhere. What you’d get here is something ol’ school, rather charming. You’d find a regular flow of oldies, old timers having their usual meals at their regular joint. That ought to tell you something, right? Food here must be good.

Char Siew Wan Tan Mee (big), 9.50 ringgit +  Famous Char Siew/ Chicken Rice, 8 ringgit

Between the noodles and the rice, I thought the noodles were better. It was gooood, delicious. The noodles here are slightly thinner than usual, springy. The char siew was tender and juicy, provided the noodles with a lil sweetness. It was good, I’d give this dish a go again.

The rice dish was tasty, the chicken – tender and juicy. This is your regular chicken rice, I’d say. I still prefer the ones served at Meng Kee – Meng Kee Char Siew @ Shah Alam – One of the Best Char Siew Rice I’ve Tasted.  any time, any day.. The BBQ pork though – that was da bomb! Here, they offer the lean kind or the ones accompanied with fats – I opted for the latter, just out of curiosity. Man, this was by far one of the ‘fattest’ char siew I’ve tasted. I didn’t know it came with this much fat but it was mouth wateringly delicious. Sometimes, with additional fats, there is always that worry that the aftertaste would be overwhelming but here, it somehow worked. Yum!

Would I head return?

For the Wan Tan Mee – I would. It was good, worth a return. The Char Siew with fats – da bomb. Finger licking delicious. The next time, I think I’d forego the chicken option and instead order Char Siew rice instead. Yup, that would do it.
