Cafe in PJ Old Town Contour at PJ Old Town Ice Chocolate Long black New 2025 : August Seksyen 1 Petaling Jaya

Contour at PJ Old Town – They’ve expanded 😊 (pork free)

PJ Old Town’s popular cafe, Contour, has expanded. They now also occupy the corner lot attached to where they started off. So now, rather than one shoplot, they consist of two, side by side and connected.

Contour appeared to be a popular choice among customers, as evidenced by the bustling atmosphere upon our arrival around 4 PM. The establishment was fully occupied, with the only remaining seating options located by the window. It is a venue that is particularly favored by the younger demographic for social gatherings. They offer pastries and cakes in addition to a small menu of hot dog bun, toastie, baked eggs and etc.

As we’ve already had a heavy lunch just before heading to Contour, we opted to forego food and order drinks instead. So there we were, sipping on a cup of Iced Long Black (RM 12) and Icee Chocolate, while sitting by the window and watching the day go by.

Address: 55, Jalan 1/12, Seksyen 1, Petaling Jaya.

Opening hours: Everyday. 8am to 6pm.

A hidden gem Aesthetically pleasing Australian Lavender Kombucha Cafe surrounded by greens Carrot Cake Dessert Cafe Dessert cafe in Petaling Jaya Dessert cafe in SS 2 PJ Green theme cafe Green theme cafe in PJ Hidden Cafe Hidden cafe in Petaling Jaya Ice Chocolate Muslim operated Ss 2 Walnut Carrot Cake

Taman Hati Studio & Cafe at SS 2, PJ – A hidden gem indeed (Muslim operated)

Situated amidst a row of shops on the quieter side of SS 2, Taman Hati Studio & Cafe is conveniently located a few doors away from well-known cafes such as Butter & Spice, Kona Bakehouse, and Ono Specialty Coffee. Occupying the first floor, its presence hidden and may not be immediately apparent without the signage displayed at the entrance.

What captured my attention from the get go were the greens. Upon opening the entrance door and entering the café, one is greeted by a visual display of lush greenery. I found this to be quite delightful.

I have a profound appreciation for greenery, particularly in cafes that provide an atmosphere rich with plants. The presence of such elements has a remarkable ability to soothe the spirit and alleviate stress. I love it. For those who share this sentiment, this cafe is a must visit. The establishment is filled with lush vegetation at every corner.

I am a fan of the setting and ambiance at Taman Hati. The cafe certainly is a neighborhood favorite. I dropped by around tea time and the space was full, bustling with people and conversations.

Menu

Carrot Cake, RM 16 + Iced Chocolate, RM 14 + Australian Lavender Kombucha, RM 13

Australian Lavender Kombucha

The Carrot Cake here was drier than what I typically prefer. As a matter of personal preference, I tend to favor denser, moister cakes. Nevertheless, having been informed that this particular cake is a favorite among customers, I decided to sample it. While the base was indeed somewhat dry, the incorporation of cream cheese imparted the desired denseness. Coupled with the addition of crunchy walnuts and cranberries, this cake ultimately proved to be quite enjoyable.

They provide a selection of flavored Kombucha, and I chose the Australian Lavender variety. It was not only refreshing but also reminiscent of one of my favorite childhood drinks—Ribena. Each sip was a pleasurable experience.

All in all, I had an enjoyable experience at Taman Hati Studio & Cafe. I’ll definitely revisit soon.

Burnt Cheesecake Coffee Dessert Hidden Hidden Cafe Ice Chocolate New 2019 Something different ?

Sipping Corner @ Puchong – A hidden cafe with lots of greens.

I was mighty glad my friend introduced me to this cafe. Ooooooo, imagine the fresh air !!  With the severity of the haze currently, this was a much needed temporary fix, lol.  Everywhere you turn, there are greens, lots of it, in many varieties. I really did enjoy myself here. You can literally feel the difference in the air you are breathing.

Sipping Corner Cafe is located inside Plant & Pot, a plant concept store. So, if you Waze here, be on the lookout for this concept store. Plant & Pot was amazing, it literally is a mini plant nursery that sells both indoor and outdoor greens in addition to in-house made art pieces for homes. Walking through the sections, feasting my eyes on the variety of greens was an absolute delight. It is an excellent place to keep your kids entertain, the variety of greens as wells as the small pathways all around kindda gives the impression that one is in a forest-like cocoon.  If adults like myself love it, imagine the kids, ey?

Plant & Pot offers several interesting workshops, monthly. For this month …..

Honestly, I’d never imagine myself painting a wall this particular green color but hey, it obviously works here. Pleasing to the eye it was and it kept up with the overall green, tropical theme going on. Nice indeed.

They serve a variety of drinks as well as cakes and quiche. No heavy, wholesome, main meal worthy dishes here. It makes for an excellent place for tea time – sipping on a cup of coffee while enjoying a slice of cake … which was exactly what I did.

The Burnt Cheesecake was nice and gooey. It certainly is a rich and creamy dessert. This particular cheesecake is a fad nowadays and as with many other cafes, this dessert is a best seller. I agree, it was delicious.

The Ice Chocolate was awesome. I have no preference as long it isn’t watery. Sometimes, I like it when my Ice Chocolate is slightly bitter-ish and sometimes, I fancy an equal chocolate to milk ratio, as the one served here. I liked it.

Grey Sky Morning @ Subang Jaya – A nice place to lepak

Sometimes, after a heavy, wholesome lunch, with plenty of time on your hands, you simply want to head to an eatery that provides you a quiet place, a much needed quietness to get your work done, where its totally okay for you to simply order a glass of iced chocolate and sit around for hours – Grey Sky Morning fits the bill.

A lot of cafes, especially with those who offer you a variety of stuff – food, drinks, desserts and etc, simply ordering a glass of drink and sitting around for hours is frown upon. Of course, they wouldn’t tell you so outright but you would be able to feel the vibe, the ‘you are unwanted’ vibe. Ooooo and when it starts getting crowded, the vibe gets stronger, lo

Good thing I wont be having those problems here. Why? Well, because there wont be any pressure for you to order food or spend more than you want to because they offer little, limited Menu. Limited as in 2 options for cake and a few pastries. I liked that, no pressure. So, ordering a glass of coffee and sitting here for a couple of hours would not really be an issue. I also liked the industrial interior/exterior this cafe has. Another point worth liking is the fact that you would have plenty of quiet and space here. If the ground floor is too populated for you, head on upstairs. I also liked the fact that this cafe is located in an industrial area, which gives it a hidden element. It is not the kind of place you would assume to house a cafe.

As mentioned earlier – their Menu is limited. If you are hoping for a big/heavy meal, you wont be getting it here. There is no burger, no pasta, no rice bowls and etc. If what you mostly want is a good cup of hot chocolate/coffee and maybe a slice of cake or pastry, then Grey Sky Morning is a good choice.

Iced Chocolate + Ginger Beer + Salted Caramel Cake = 37 ringgit

Oooo man, that ginger beer is da bomb. If you like it strong and potent, this would do it for you. I loved it, drank every drop. The Ice Chocolate was good too, thick, milky and chocolatty – just how I like it and the cake, it had a butter cake on the inside, topped with salted caramel sauce and some crunchy biscuit bit I had a yummy slice of cake, a good glass of Ginger Beer and Ice Chocolate and I managed to spend a good 2 hours uninterrupted catching up on work. I’d say I have an awesome time here.
