Aesthetically pleasing Asian & Western Blue Coconut Caffe Latte Brownie Chocolate Brownies Kuchai Lama Muslim Friendly Open Daily

Ruang by Cookiez Bar at Kuchai Lama, KL – Aesthetically pleasing cafe with a good range of Asian and Western dishes (Muslim friendly)

It became evident that we were trapped in the heavy congestion of rush hour while leaving Kuchai Lama. After nearly 20 minutes of navigating through the traffic, we opted to wait at a nearby café, anticipating that within one hour, the traffic would ease, permitting us to arrive at our homes in 15 minutes. A quick online search led us to RUANG, a good rated establishment with an average Google score of 4.7/5 from over 550 individuals.

If you are seeking an aesthetically pleasing cafe that embodies ‘ala Bali’ vibes, Ruang may fulfill your requirements. Situated within the Kuchai Exchange, a business hub comprising commercial units and office blocks, one must navigate the surrounding area to locate this cafe. There are parking facilities available directly outside the establishment, with a charge of RM 1.50 per hour. It is advisable to anticipate a waiting period for a parking spot to become available.

I liked the interior; it felt like I was transported to another place, a serene oasis amidst the hustle and bustle of daily life. The neutral and earthy tones harmoniously blended with each other, while the rattan lights cast a warm, inviting glow that contributed to the overall ambiance. The thoughtful combination of these elements automatically created a sense of ease and calmness, enveloping me in comfort and tranquility. I found myself appreciating the subtle details, like the textures of the furnishings and the soft colors that seemed to breathe life into the space. There were quiet nooks where one could retreat to read a book or simply enjoy a moment of solitude if some privacy was required, making it an ideal setting for relaxation and reflection.

Menu

Blue Coconut Caffe Latte, RM 14.50 + Chocolate Brownie, RM 12

The Blue Coconut Caffe Latte is an obvious choice for those who appreciate coconut-infused beverages. It was presented elegantly in a glass, showcasing a striking blue liquid alongside a serving of black coffee. The concept behind the Blue Coconut Caffe Latte involves combining the contents of both glasses into a single drink; however, upon sampling the blue liquid independently, I found it to be delightful. This beverage is fundamentally composed of coconut, coconut milk, and a subtle sweetener, resulting in a drink that is both pleasing and smooth, making it a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

The Chocolate Brownie was an indulgent dessert, presenting a delightful experience. The cake was characterized by its dense and moist composition, meticulously crafted to achieve a rich texture that effortlessly melted upon consumption. With the inclusion of melted chocolate pieces and crunchy walnuts, each bite offered an exemplary balance of sweetness and nuttiness. Each mouthful proved to be satisfying, particularly for those who enjoy brownies and chocolate, myself included.

I personally like this cafe, from the way it looks and feel to the drink and dessert I tasted. As RUANG has a large menu, with a variety of dishes choices, I look forward to revisiting this cafe during lunch hour next.

Cheezy Baked Rice with Chicken Chop Curry Mee with Siu Yoke Honey Lemon Iced Coffee Kuchai Lama Lunch Set meals New 2023: June Old Klang Road Open Daily Siu yuk Value Meal Sets

Ba Hao Canteen at Taman Goodwood, Kuchai Lama – Good food

10 minutes into Kuchai Lama is this neighborhood called Taman Goodwood. I’ve never heard of it until I came across several food reviews online regarding Ba Hao Canteen. As the reviews were positive and food looked good, I figured that we could have our late lunch here for the day. Some deviation from our usual gastronomical path does seem rather exciting, so why not?

During lunch hour, it is highly probable that Ba Hao will be crowded. This conclusion is derived solely from my observation made during my recent visit. Despite my arrival after the conventional lunch hour, I noted a substantial number of patrons still occupying the premises. So, depending on your time of visit, you may be in the midst of a boisterous, noisy envorinment filled with chatter and overlapping conversations. One does not need to worry about lack of seating though as this restaurant occupies two floors.

Parking: Ba Hao is located within a row of shop, there were plenty of parking spots right infront the restaurant. It might all be occupied during peak hours though, so you’d likely have to go around the block a few times before you come across an empty spot.

Ba Hao is clean. That was the first thing I noticed as soon as I sat down. It was spick and span. They had a white/green theme going on, which provided a rather calm and soothing atmosphere. Service was good. You can either place your order online or order at the counter. Food arrived swiftly.

Menu

For lunch on weekdays, Ba Hao offers Value Meals which is available from 11 am – 3 pm. These sets includes a main meal and a drink combo. There are about 19 dishes and 5 drinks to choose from.

Alternatively, one can also order ala carte.

Value Meal 1: Curry Mee + Iced Kopi, RM 18.90 & Value Meal 2: Baked Cheesy Rice with Chicken Chop + Iced Honey Lemon

Cheezy Baked Rice with Chicken Chop

For the Curry Mee, we selected Bihun as our preferred type of noodles. It complemented the remaining components exceptionally well. The curry had a delightful balance, with a discernible hint of prawn paste. The dish included three pieces of siew yok, pork balls, tauhu, brinjal, and long beans. Overall, it was an appetizing bowl of noodles.

While the noodles were enjoyable, my personal preference lies with the delectable Cheezy Baked Rice accompanied by Chicken Chop. This dish was a true delight. Initially, I had concerns that the cheese might overpower the overall flavors, as cheese has been known to have such an effect. However, upon tasting the dish, I realized my worries were unwarranted. The dish consisted of soft and chewy rice, paired harmoniously with six pieces of chicken chop fillet. The meat also included a choice of sauce – mushroom, black pepper and tomato. Opting for the tomato sauce proved to be a good choice especially with the layer of cheese coating the whole dish. The combination of cheese and sauce evoked a delightful “pizza” taste, which truly appealed to my palate. Individually, the baked cheese was yu.my to bite into, but when enjoyed alongside the rice and chicken, the combination was simply divine.

The drink were good too. It did not feel like a cheaper version just because it was included with the dishes as a set meal. The Iced Coffee, although not overwhelmingly strong, still packed a flavorful punch. I liked that it was thick, not watery/diluted. The Honey Lemon drink was refreshing, not overly sweet. Personally, I tend to prefer drinks with a stronger zest of lemon, so I took the liberty of squeezing the provided lemon piece to enhance the juice content.

All in all, it was a good visit to Ba Hao Canteen. Customer service, ambiance and food were good. I wouldn’t mind heading back here again for another visit when I am in the area next.

Authentic Good Thai food in KL Kuchai Lama Open Daily Rice with stir fried basil & chicken Thai Thai food Tom Yum Soup

Thai Tae at Kuchai Lama – Authentic Thai food.

A food blog I follow recently posted a review on this Thai restaurant in Kuchai Lama. As I had a work meet along Old Klang Road, I figured it would be a good time to drop by Thai Tae as it was located 10 minutes away from where I was. From the many positive reviews online about this eatery, I was looking forward to eating some delicious Thai food.

Parking : There was plenty of parking spots. However, dropping by on a weekday during lunch hour meant that none were empty ones. I had to drive around the block several times before coming across a vacant spot.

Thai Tae is located on the first floor.

If you are looking for an eatery that aesthetically pleasing and instagrammable, this eatery will not fit the bill. At first glance, it looked a tad run down but that is soon forgotten when you start hearing the Thai cooks yapping away in the kitchen, lol. Yap, yap, yap … well, at least I do not have to worry about the food authenticity. Although I had no understanding at all about the conversation that was taking place, it was entertaining enough listening to them loudly overriding each other. 😄😄

Red Tom Yum Soup with Chicken, RM 20 + Rice with Stir Fried Basil and Chicken, RM 13.90

Tom Yum Soup
Rice with Stir Fried Basil and Chicken

Food was good, authentic for sure. The Red Tom Yum Soup was da’ bomb. Most places serve soup that is watery. It may be flavorful but watery nonetheless. The one here was thick. In my opinion, the thicker broth here managed to amplify the potentness of the spices used. So, if you are all about the flavors and taste, you’d be able to satisfy your craving here. Lots of soup with a good portion of chicken, vegetables, chillies and etc. Perfect to slurp up as soup and equally as good eating with the rice.

The Rice with Stir Fried Basil and Chicken a.k.a. Pad Krapow, was delicious. One thing guaranteed at Thai Tae is the generous portion of the dishes. At RM 13.90, you’d get rice, a fried egg and chicken with basil. Most restaurants I’ve been to served the chicken in minced form and in most cases, a tad too salty. Here, they serve it in strips, with some turmeric added in, if I am not mistaken. Salt was the right amount. I liked the taste and flavor. It was a perfect choice for lunch.

Would I head back here? Yea, I would. That tom yum soup especially, I need more.
