This establishment is often frequented by individuals seeking to savor Chinese noodles. They have another outlet in SS 2, PJ. Despite my frequent visits to both areas, I had not previously availed myself of the opportunity to dine at Jojo Little Kitchen, until now.
Parking: Finding a parking spot is convenient. Roadside parking is usually occupied, but there is an alternative option of parking in the building opposite the restaurant. The restaurant is situated across from Societe by Lyfehaus hotel, which offers public parking at a rate of RM 2.50 per hour. It takes less than 5 minutes to walk from the hotel to the restaurant.
Payment: A few notices are prominently displayed within Jojo Little Kitchen, indicating that only cash payments are accepted. However, it should be noted that they also accept Touch ‘n Go payments.
Menu
Curry Laksa, RM 12.80 + Lat Jiu Pan Mee, RM 12.80
Curry LaksaLat Jiu Pan MeeSoya, Soya with Cincau
Food was delightful. The Curry Laksa was not only rich in flavor, but also well-seasoned. The curry had a thick consistency and a delightful taste, which I thoroughly enjoyed. When it came to noodle dishes, I had the option to select between thin, thick, and tear noodles. For the Curry Laksa, I chose thin noodles, which complemented the dish perfectly. Additionally, the dish featured chicken, cockles, tofu, and long beans.
Lat Jiu Pan Mee was delightful, particularly after thoroughly mixing the dish. As the egg breaks and permeates the noodles, creating a moist dish, adding some chili and taking a bite … exquisite. This was yet another satisfying dish, one that I would gladly reorder in the future.
Overall, a good experience. Customer service was good, food arrived quickly and most importantly, it tasted good.Parking too was easy. I look forward to another visit.

If you are a fan of hidden gems, this restaurant inside Pasar Besar TTDI might interest you. Chai Cha Teh is a muslim friendly restaurant that offers local favorites like Pan Mee, Curry Laksa and Haninanese Chicken Chop. As mentioned previously, the eatery is located inside the market and faces the row of shops that houses Pizza Hut and Blue Reef Fish & Chips.
Parking was easy. An open carpark is available next to the market and another is a covered carpark located inside the market – which was where we parked at. Rates were affordable : First hour, RM 1, Second hour, RM 2. They accept Touch N Go, Debit/Credit card as method of payment here.
We dropped by for a visit during lunch hour and it was fullhouse. Luckily, we did not have to wait long for a table. Weekday lunch hour tend to be mostly occupied by the folks working nearby, so the crowd tend to move in and out rather quickly. Despite being busy, customer service was good. Orders were taken on time and food arrived surprisingly fast.
Menu
They have a limited menu here, 5-6 items?
There were no printouts. The images on the wall was their menu. It consisted of Pan Mee, Curry Laksa, Hainanese Chicken Chop, Braised Chicken Rice and Red Bean Soup.
Dry Chili Pan Mee (Big), RM 10
This is a crowd favorite. Literally every table had a bowl of Pan Mee on them. So, it was a no brainer that we gave it a try as well. It was indeed tasty. The dish was made up of noodles, egg, spring onions, fried onion, mushroom, cbili, anchovies and their own version of minced chicken with gravy. Once given a good mix, it resulted in a yummy bowl of noodles.
Curry Laksa (Big), RM 10
This dish was equally as good too. While the curry was not too milky, it packed plenty of flavor. One can literally taste the ‘curry’. With the ones with plenty of milk included, the potent taste of curry will certainly be muted down. Here, it was contrary. It was good stuff. The dish included a mix of Mihun + Mee, chicken strips, chicken cubes, fishball, lettuce and onions.
Would I head back here? Once in a blue moon, perhaps. As they have a small menu, I would only be dropping by if I am in the mood for Pan Mee and/or Curry Laksa. Oh, I also look forward to giving their Hainanese Chicken Chop a try.

Since we had time on our hands for the day, we decided to drop by Warong Old China for lunch. This 1 year old eatery has always been within my line of sight whenever I head to KL City Centre via Brickfieldsbut timing was not right to drop by … til now 😊
Parking: As the restaurant is located along a busy road, parking by the roadside was not possible during peak hour. So instead, we parked at Central Market. It cost us RM 5 for 2 hours. As Warong Old China was located a 5 minutes walk away, parking here was a good decision. Alternatively, you can take the train to Pasar Seni station and walk over, 5 minutes walk too.
This is one of those eateries where you’d feel like you got transported back in time as soon as you stepped in. Niceeeeeee. The decor and the feel this restaurant exudes is certainly ol’ school.
Customer service was good. We were immediately attended to once seated. Food arrived within 10 minutes.
The two dishes Curry Laksa and Bubur Cha Cha were my favorites while the Basil Minced Chicken was so so.
The Bubur Cha Cha arrived first. It was a tad sweeter than what I was use to but I liked it alot. The dish consisted of coconut milk with gula melaka, sago, sweet potato and yam. It has been more than a year since I’ve had bubur cha cha and having it here was awesome, I enjoyed it lots.
The Warong Curry Laksa was delicious. It came with a choice of 3 noodles of which I opted for a mix of kuey teow + mee hoon. It was a good combination to be eaten with the thick, milky curry gravy. The gravy was yummy. I enjoyed slurping on it. The dish also included tauhu, taugeh, egg and fishcakes.
The Basil Minced Chicken was okaylah. It was a choice between this and Belacan Fried Rice …. and I should have gone with the fried rice because that was delicious, this was so so. It was a dry dish. Usually, with the minced chicken, it will be served with some gravy on it but here, it was just stir fried minced chicken with basil leaves and long beans. The only gravy was from the cili ketchup, which is not a gravy at all. The runny egg yolk helped a little but once it was all eaten, its back to dry. They should add on a gravy.
Would I head back here? Yea, why not. I look forward to trying their Mee Siam, Pineapple Fried Rice and etc. Since parking was not as difficult, I would not mind dropping by for another visit soon.

Today, we ‘bungkus’ lunch from Uncle Lim. We came across this new eatery a month ago while having dinner in the area. What caught my eye immediately was the kopitiam feel and look. I’ve always liked these kind of settings and took note to drop by sometime soon for a visit, I also liked that they serve some of my local favorites.Fast forward a few weeks later, here I was.
Menu
Nasi Lemak Rendang Chicken, RM 16
This was yummy. I thought what I’d be getting when I ordered this dish was the usual nasi lemak items – rice, egg, ‘kacang’, anchovies + chicken rendang. Not really. The sotong sambal was a surprise. It was slightly sweet, a tad spicy and you’d get a pretty large piece of squid. It was good. For the rendang, you’d get a juicy chicken thigh with some rendang sauce. Overall, the Nasi Lemak was tasty. I’d order it again.
Uncle Lim’s Laksa, RM 12.50
This was a little different from what I imagined. Based on the image in their Menu, I thought what I’d be getting is curry laksa. It was slightly different in terms of the broth. Here, you’d get two in one, both curry and asam laksa. The broth texture and color resembled currylaksa but the taste was all asam laksa. So yea, it was a hybrid. I liked it but for my friend – he took some time getting use to it. If you are a purist whereby you like one or the other and not a mix, Uncle Lim also offers Kari Mee and Asam Laksa separately.. go for that instead. As for me, no problem at all.
The dish comes with two pieces of ‘ikan tongkol’ / tuna, plenty of broth – it was somewhat thick with the taste of asam laksa evident, lots of noodles with bits of pineapplesand onions.By the time you ‘bungkus’ and head back home, the dish would already be cold, so do heat it up as dishes such as this are best eaten hot.

So, one of our blog readers suggested we give this kopitiam a try. Thank you, for without your suggestion, we most probably would have been oblivious of its existence. Setapak is not an area my friends and I hang out at and so, unless it is regularly making the rounds on social media, I would not have known of this eatery. So, thank you 🙏🙏
The first thing I did prior to my visit was check out the Google rating on this eatery. If I am not mistaken, Nian Dai has only been open for a year now and to rake up an average score of 4.5 / 5 from over 500 reviewers is quite an achievement.Besides blog postings, we check Google ratings regularly because it provides insights. It is something we do before visiting any restaurant. So, we quickly noticed that this kopitiam managed to gain an insane number of reviewers within the short time they have been operating. There are well loved cafes and restaurants that has been around for years and still not have this many reviewers and a high average score. That was telling. It definitely got me all excited to give Nian Dai a try because who can resist a good kopitiam, right? Certainly not me, lol.
Nian Dai is located within a row of shops, in a new retail block. We have been to this area once prior, to visit Kelate Kitchen – Kelate Kitchen @ Setapak – Good, affordable Kelantanese food (Halal) . This restaurant is located opposite the road from this kopitiam. In case you guys are interested in some Nasi Dagang, can give it a go at Kelate Kitchen.
Parking: As mentioned above, the kopitiam is located in a new retail space. There is a bubble tea shop, a sushi restaurant and several other F&B outlets. It is a block by itself and surrounding this block, there are parking spots available, for free. There isn’t many though, so you most probably have to end up doing several rounds around the block before you come across a vacant spot. Many folks park by the roadside but be warned though, you might “kena saman.”
Nian Dai is new, modern kopitiam with a touch of old schoolness. I liked it.It obviously is a well loved eatery. We spent quite some time there and noticed that people kept coming and going, on constant rotation. Definitely not short in customers.
Menu
** if the Menu image above is unclear, Nian Dai’s FB page also displays the Menu.
Guys, food was real good.Usually when you order several dishes, one dish may be very nice and yummy while the others may just be okay, right? That is not the case here. All the dishes were very tasty.
The Carrot Cake was da bomb. It tasted like char kuey teow, flavor-wise, which I loved. A generous portion size, with plenty of taugeh and egg. Most importantly, it was not soaked in oil. Yay!
The Curry Laksa was delicious too, comes in a generous portion size. There were lots of noodles + siew yok + pork balls + fuchuk + taugeh + tauhu + long beans + brinjal. The curry broth is somewhat thick, is flavorful. Overall, an awesome dish.
The Kampung Fried Rice was very good. I especially loved the charred/slightly burned aftertaste that I’d get after each mouthfull. So good! The dish came with plenty of anchovies, seafood and again, a generous portion of rice. It was very tasty. The two sticks of satay that came on the sidewith sweet satay sauce poured all over only made the whole dish even better. Overall, a “sedap” simple dish.Burp!!
By the time we were done with the three dishes above, we were full but we were not ready to say goodbye yet, lol…. not before having dessert. We ordered the Cendol and I guess it is no surprise that even the dessert was da bomb. There was a good shaved ice to ingredients ratio. So, even if the ice melts, the overall flavor/taste isn’t diluted. First mouth in, you’d immediately be able to taste the gula melaka and as you dig in, you’d find plenty of red beans. It has been a while since I’ve last had cendol and I am glad to have had it here. Loved it.
I had a good time here. It is definitely worth a return. I am looking forward to it.
We’ve all been required to limit our movements and basically, stay indoors. It has been a few days and it kindda feels like I am in a futuristic movie. The kind that is 100 years into the future and apparently homosapiens survival depends solely on the fact that we remain indoor because the outside is too toxic and harmful?? I’m sure you guys have seen these sort of movies, right??
Anyways, under these circumstances – what do I do?? Besides “Netflix and chill”, I was totally putting my cooking skills to good use. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, supper … and I’ve arrived at a conclusion – while I can definitely cook if my survival depends on it, under normal circumstances though, it would be better if someone else does the cooking for me instead. 🤣🤣 So, I decided to have some food delivered to melah.
As I was looking through what was available on GrabFood, I had several eateries shortlisted and one of it was Santan in Megamall. This eatery, if you didn’t already know, is by Air Asia. Some of their popular dishes that are usually available on their flights, are also available at Santan. I’ve been wanting to drop by for a visit but never really got the chance. Besides the food, the appeal of this eatery seem to be their hospitality. Solely based on the reviews I’ve read online, it was apparent that people loved and appreciated the excellent customer service that was provided. Well, I guess it is a shame that I wouldn’t be experiencing that while I indulge in their food for the first time. Oh well, hopefully when things get better with the virus, I can drop by for a visit.
I ordered the “Bundle for 2” which is currently under promotion. What originally would cost you 40 ringgit is now lesser by 11.45 ringgit. The bundle came with 2 main meals + 2 drink, all for 28.62 ringgit, which I thought was a very good deal. The main meals, I knew one of it would be the crowd favorite “Pak Nasser’s Nasi Lemak Ayam Rendang”. That is a must, I’ve had it while flying Air Asia time and time again, it was always enjoyable. The other dish of choice though, I wasn’t too sure what to go for. Again, I relied on the reviews online and saw several positive mentions of the Curry Laksa. Oklah, I decided to take a chance and give that a go. For drinks, there were 2 options available – Roselle Iced Black Tea and Calamansi. I ordered one of each.
At that point, total amount including delivery would be 33 ringgit. However, GrabFood is having a free delivery promo “FREEDEL”. Be sure to key that in into the PROMO tab and you’d only have to pay 28.62 ringgit.
Bundle for 2, 28.62 ringgit
Food was good. Surprisingly good. It was unexpected. I thought the food would be “okaylah” but this exceeded my expectations.
The Pak Nasser’s Nasi Lemak Chicken Rendang was da’ bomb. I loved it. The ‘sambal’ was finger lickin’ good. It was thick, spicy and flavorful. The Chicken Rendang was yummy. The gravy was good and the chicken was tender and juicy. Besides that, the dish came with an egg, kacang, anchovies and cucumber. Overall, a really good dish. The only downside is the chicken pieces, they only provide them in thighs and drumsticks. Other than that, I’ve got no complaints.
The Curry Laksa was really good. I loved the fact that the gravy wasn’t too watery or too thick, it was in between. A perfect equilibrium. Tastewise, spicy with a little heat and a touch of sweetness. Yummm!! Besides the lovely gravy, the dish included yellow mee + shredded chicken + tauhu + long beans + fishcakes. I definitely wouldn’t mind giving the Curry Laksa a go again.
The drinks were both flavorful and refreshing. It wasn’t too sweet and in terms of taste, I’d say where the Roselle Tea is much more calm, simple the Calamansi in contrast is rather strong. Roselle is more sweet and pleasant where as the Calamansi is more citrus-sy and tangy. I liked both 🙂
It was a satisfying experience overall. The food was delicious. Burp!!
** I initially had issues placing the order on GrabFood. It kept saying “something went wrong, please try again later”. Perhaps the sudden increase in people using the platform to order food were to be blamed?? Perhaps it’s a system glitch?? I wouldn’t know. I kept trying but it didn’t work. So, I asked my friend to give it a go. He managed to do it after the second try. I’m just putting this out there just in case any of you are facing the same issue. Keep trying, guys.

Today was one of those days whereby my tastebuds, my head and my tummy was all in sync, lol and they all wanted a kopitiam breakfast. My go to kopitiam would be Ka Fei Dian. Yes, there are other more notable kopitiams around that literally has franchises at every corner around the city – like Old Town White Coffee, but I like Ka Fei Dian. It has that ‘hidden’ element to it – those who know it exist, knows and those who don’t, probably never would. People rarely write about it and lesser people talk about it. Customers are usually people who work at/around/nearby Amcorp Mall and people who got to know about it through their friends. Mine was the latter. A friend told me about this kopitiam, I visited it and I liked it. Yes, it is located in the mall but it has a neighborhood kopitiam feel to it. It is also one of those that has not been commercialized, yay – hence, better quality food.
While food is in better quality – it is by no means phenomenal in taste. If that is what you are after – then you are better of at a cafe or a proper restaurant. However, by kopitiam standards, this is quite delicious, in my opinion.
Asam Fried Mee Hoon + Rendang Chicken, 9.90 ringgit
This dish came with a generous amount of fried mee hoon noodles + 2 pieces of sambal chicken + egg + cucumber. The noodles were soft & moist and came relatively potent with asam flavor, which I loved. It makes eating it difficult. The chicken pieces were meaty & tender and the sambal aided in providing the whole dish a taste of spicyness. It was a tasty and filling dish for breakfast.
Curry Laksa, 10 ringgit
If you fancy yourself some laksa that is not as creamy but with equal amount of spiciness – then this is the dish for you. The noodles came in the usual 3 options – yellow mee, mee hoon or kuey teow, of which I opted for mee hoon. The noodles came in generous portion + egg + long beans + taugeh + a whole lot of spicy soup. It is definitely a wholesome dish, I intended to skip lunch today so having this for breakfast was no issue.
Kopi Susu/ Coffee, 3.80 ringgit
Staying true to its kopitiam style, hot drinks are served in teacups. Taste-wise, it was pretty good. They did not stinge on the coffee, milk and sugar. It does not taste watered down like the ones I usually get at some of the other franchised kopitiams. I liked it.
Would I head here again?
Of course. Been heading there every once in a while, the past 3 years.
