A hidden gem Curry Laksa Dry Chili Pan Mee Hidden Inside TTDI Market Muslim Friendly

Chai Cha Teh at TTDI, KL – A hidden gem inside the market (Muslim friendly)

If you are a fan of hidden gems, this restaurant inside Pasar Besar TTDI might interest you. Chai Cha Teh is a muslim friendly restaurant that offers local favorites like Pan Mee, Curry Laksa and Haninanese Chicken Chop. As mentioned previously, the eatery is located inside the market and faces the row of shops that houses Pizza Hut and Blue Reef Fish & Chips.

Parking was easy. An open carpark is available next to the market and another is a covered carpark located inside the market – which was where we parked at. Rates were affordable : First hour, RM 1, Second hour, RM 2. They accept Touch N Go, Debit/Credit card as method of payment here.

We dropped by for a visit during lunch hour and it was fullhouse. Luckily, we did not have to wait long for a table. Weekday lunch hour tend to be mostly occupied by the folks working nearby, so the crowd tend to move in and out rather quickly. Despite being busy, customer service was good. Orders were taken on time and food arrived surprisingly fast.

Menu

They have a limited menu here, 5-6 items?

There were no printouts. The images on the wall was their menu. It consisted of Pan Mee, Curry Laksa, Hainanese Chicken Chop, Braised Chicken Rice and Red Bean Soup.

Dry Chili Pan Mee (Big), RM 10

This is a crowd favorite. Literally every table had a bowl of Pan Mee on them. So, it was a no brainer that we gave it a try as well. It was indeed tasty. The dish was made up of noodles, egg, spring onions, fried onion, mushroom, cbili, anchovies and their own version of minced chicken with gravy. Once given a good mix, it resulted in a yummy bowl of noodles.

Curry Laksa (Big), RM 10

This dish was equally as good too. While the curry was not too milky, it packed plenty of flavor. One can literally taste the ‘curry’. With the ones with plenty of milk included, the potent taste of curry will certainly be muted down. Here, it was contrary. It was good stuff. The dish included a mix of Mihun + Mee, chicken strips, chicken cubes, fishball, lettuce and onions.

Would I head back here? Once in a blue moon, perhaps. As they have a small menu, I would only be dropping by if I am in the mood for Pan Mee and/or Curry Laksa. Oh, I also look forward to giving their Hainanese Chicken Chop a try.
