Good Thai food in KL Old Klang Road Omelette Pad Kra Phrao Thai Thai Green Curry Tom Yum Chicken

Kiin at Old Klang Road – Tasty Thai food

We recently visited this Thai restaurant at 3rd Mile Square, Old Klang Road. It is run by a Thai family and serves authentic Thai food.

Parking: There is parking available surrounding the square at a rate of RM 2, first hour and RM 1 for subsequent hours. During peak hours, all spots may be occupied and therefore you most likely have to make a few rounds around the block to come across an available one.

Menu

Green Curry Chicken with Rice, RM 14.90 + Thai Basil Minced Chicken with Rice, RM 12.90 + Tom Yum Chicken with Rice, RM 14.90 + Omelette, RM 9.90

If you look through the menu, you’d notice that there are dishes to accommodate both small and large groups. This time, even though there were 3 of us, we decided to go with the individual dishes each, just so that we could try several dishes at once.

Minced Basil Chicken with Rice
Green Curry Chicken with Rice
Tom Yum Chicken with Rice
Omelette

Food was good. The Thai Basil Minced Chicken a.k.a Pad Kra Pao, ncluded rice, an egg and a generous portion of meat. At times, for some reason, the chicken is served extra salty elsewhere. Here though, it tasted right. Yum!

The Thai Green Curry and Tom Yum Chicken was good too. However, between the two, I prefered the green curry. It included plenty of chicken and brinjal. I wouldn’t mind slurping it all up on its own because it had a lovely flavor to it. The Tom Yum though, while it was good, it seemed a tad too diluted for me. Despite requesting for extra spicy, it wasn’t the case and on top of that, with the tom yum soup being a little too watery, it kind of surpressed the spicy taste of tom yum. Other than that, the dish overall was pretty good. The tom yum soup included plenty of chicken and mushroom.

The omelette was deliciousssss! It consisted of one large omelette that was buttery and soft while also having a crispy, crunchy outer layer. It was a perfect addition to the rice. Yum!!!

KomPassion at Damansara Kim – Yummy Thai food 😍

Lunch for the day was from KomPassion. I’ve eaten at this Thai restaurant several times over the years and food has always been good. I however, have not paid them a visit ever since Covid19 hit us and recently, I was told that somewhere mid last year, they underwent an interior and exterior change, a ‘beautification’ process of sorts. Hearing that, I dropped by for a visit. I was curious to see the new look as well as indulge in another round of yummy food.

It looked nice, me like. Bright and cosy it was. Too bad dining in was not allowed.

Menu

The menu is rather long, taking photos of it isn’t a good idea, lol. So, to view the menu, click the link:

Belacan Fried Rice with Belacan Fried Rice, RM 20 + Stir Fried Eggplant Basil, RM 17 + Green Curry Fried Rice with BBQ Chicken, RM 17

The Belacan Fried Rice was yummy. I’ve always liked this dish and decided to go for it again. The portion size was big as usual, good enough for 2 people. Nice flavor with plenty of ingredients, the rice came with 2,3 fish fillets. Just in case the fried rice is not ‘belacan’ enough for you, they also provide a serving of belacan sauce on the side.

This was something different, I suppose. I’ve never seen or heard of Thai Green Curry being used in fried rice prior to this. As I am both a green curry fan and fried rice lover, naturally this dish piqued my interest. The fried rice was good. If you opt to not pour in the Green Curry sauce thats comes on the side, this would be a delicious fried rice but without the taste of green curry. Adding on the paste makes a difference, especially if you are one of those who likes their green curry to be evident. The fried rice came with a good portion of bbq chicken strips that was a perfect addition to the dish overall.

Boran Classic Thai Street Food @ Seapark, PJ – Affordable Thai food

Did you guys know that Boran is actually a chain of restaurants, just like Streat Thai? I certainly didn’t. I was oblivious of its existence until I decided to accompany my friend today for lunch. She too, just like me, have not heard of Boran until she came across a video review on it online. She sounded excited to pay it a visit and I, well .. I just wanted to eat something good and based on how excited my friend was, I assumed that would be the case here – good food.

Upon arrival, the first thing I noticed was how was crowded/packed it was. It wasn’t just the case inside, outside was the same too. People double parked everywhere. Ho ma gawd. Seriously?? Forget about doing it right by parking at a designated spot because you’d have to keep on waiting till eternity, pal. We had to circle the area multiple times just to get a parking spot within the ‘double park’ section. We would have continued circling the block if it wasn’t for the nice uncle that informed us that if we are heading to Boran , “double parklah, inside got camera.” We had no idea what the ‘camera’ was about but the uncle seemed like a knowledgeable fellow, we decided take his word for it and double parked.

Aaaaa, I see what the uncle meant. There literally is a special camera/tv on display that gives you real time footage that is especially handy to those of us who double parked. This is a first for me, kudos to Boran for trying to make our lives easier.

and to those of you who uses public transport, there is this for you…

public transport

Very thoughtful indeed.

Anyways, as expected, during lunch, Boran was full house but the good news was that most of them are office folks and so, the crowd tends to move quick as most of them do not linger once they are done with their meals. Within 5 minutes, we were seated and ready to order.

Green Curry Set, 13.90 ringgit + Basil Rice Set, 10.90

I don’t know about dinner but for lunch, besides ala carte they also offer set lunches. These set lunches comes with one main meal + drink + dessert. Both of us opted for this option.

all dishpat kra pow 2green ccurrydessert

** Sorry, no pictures of the drinks. We gulped it down before the rest of the items arrives at our table. They offer some interesting combinations, we went for the Earl Grey Lychee Tea, which was really good. Who would have thought earl grey and lychee creates a pleasant combination, ey? They also added in lychee bits which made it even more awesome.

The Basil Rice Set to me was basically Pad Kra Pao  and between the two dishes, both of us liked/ preferred it to the Green Curry. Why? Firstly because the minced pork meat was tasty and flavorful. Secondly because the Green Curry was diluted?? or rather it tasted like they used the powdered version of this dish. Yup. That was what it tasted like – powdered Green Curry. I am one of those who likes slurping the green curry by itself and hmmmm, it tasted weird, very weird. Having it with the rice and chicken though was okay but on its own … I didn’t really like it. So yea, do have it with the rice + chicken. This dish I would not reorder but the Pad Kra Pao, I definitely would. It was flavorful, tasty and the minced meat came in a generous portion.

Would I be back here? If I am in the area and in the mood for some Thai food, why not. If you are looking for excellent, mouth wateringly delicious Thai food – I am sure you can find better Thai restaurants but it you fancy some street food that is simple and taste acceptable, Boran could be it.

Kin Thai @ OUG – Awesome Thai food. Underrated.

I’ve visited the area often but I’ve somehow missed the existence of Kin Thai. I finally discovered it on my dad’s birthday. You see, he loves Thai food and the rest of the family decided to treat him to a nice Thai dinner. Where at? We weren’t sure. So, we browsed the net including Fave and that was where we came upon Kin Thai. Anyways, long story short, food was really good. My dad had a blast, he enjoyed himself and thought the food here was awesome. The people, workers here were real sweet as well .. as soon as they knew it was my dad’s birthday – they gave him a whole fresh coconut, on the house. I didn’t get an opportunity to review Kin Thai at that point in time as there is a right place and time for that and a family birthday dinner did not seem appropriate.

So, here I was back again, for lunch this time. I made sure not to go in with high expectations because in a lot of cases, the first time is a charm but subsequent visits, not so much. After tasting the food, let’s just say the second time around was just as good as the first. They are consistent. During both my visits though, I’ve noticed that the eatery is somewhat empty. Why though? Food is real good, the folks here are really nice and friendly, the eatery is comfortable … which leads me to believe that lots of people – just like me, do not know of Kin Thai.

It was just the two of us this time and we weren’t really starving, so we ordered 3 dishes between us to share. If was between the Thai Green Curry or Tom Yum. I’ve tried the Tom Yum previously and let me warn you – it is spicy as hell. I couldn’t understand how my friends and family could like and enjoy it. I tried but I honestly can’t handle it. Everyone else was slurping it away with ease while I was sweating profusely. I guess some folk can handle it and some can’t. It tasted real good, with lots of ingredients but sadly, it’s too spicy for me. My ass was literally on fire.

To be on the safe side, I decided to give the Green Curry a go. This dish was really tasty. The gravy was thick, milky and rich, packed with flavor. Lots of coconut milk, that is for sure. There were a generous portion of chicken, brinjal and green beans. The dish as a whole was a nice dish to have with rice. Sooo good.

There are three options for omelette – plain, shrimp or chicken. Since we’ve already ordered Thai Green Gurry with chicken, we opted for a plain omelette this time. We”, the ‘plain’ wasn’t that plain. It had plenty of onion in it as well as shrimp paste. The taste was awesome. In terms of texture – it was fluffy and crispy on the outside, warm and buttery on the inside. Yummm!

Burp! I’d definitely keep Kin Thai in mind whenever I am in the mood for some yummy Thai food. My lunch here was a delicious and satisfying. Worth a revisit.
