Banana Leaf Rice Chicken Varuval Fried Tenggiri Fish From Bukit Gasing to SS 2 Ikan Bilis Indian New 2021 Open Daily

Acha Curry House @ SS 2, PJ – Ooo yummy! Burp πŸ˜‹

There is a new banana leaf restaurant in town, yawww. Okay, perhaps ‘new’ is not the right word because they have been around, at a different location though. Acha Curry House sounds familiar, ey? Yess, it is. It is the very same banana leaf restaurant in Bukit Gasing, perhaps even the most popular in that side of town? Well, they have moved to SS 2. Officially opened on Friday, 8th of January 2021.

Where exactly in SS 2? Certainly not right in the middle of it, where it is almost always filled with people, congested and parking is a nightmare. Nope. This restaurant is located at the edge of SS2, just about 5 minutes from Taman Bahagia train station. There are several row of shops nearby and within one of those rows, is where this eatery is located. We arrived at noon and parking was rather easy. There was plenty all around and we parked for free.

Menu

Banana Leaf Meal, RM 8.50 + Chicken Varuval (S), RM 6.50 + Fried Tenggiri Rish, RM 8 + Ikan Bilis, RM 1

Food was good. Acha Curry House is literally the first eatery in a very long time, which serves banana leaf rice that allows their customers to take the vegetables themselves. They literally leave the serving container on your table and you help yourself to it. It has been a long time since I’ve come across such practise – giving free reign to the customers. Usually, they’d serve us the vegetables and in most cases, it would not be enough to last you through the whole meal, hence leading you to request for another round. When this happens, they’d usually attempt to do it but during the whole process of removing the content from the container and onto your leaf, only half will make it as the other half will fall back into the container. Kindda weird, aint it? It is their job to serve, have been doing it for years and somehow never getting it right. It’s almost as if they dont want you to have more, lol.

No such thing here though, they leave more than enough for you. You take however much you want and enjoy your meal. It sure does safe plenty of time. Anyways, there was 4 vegetables pumpkin, taugeh, spinach and cucumber. All tasted good. The Ikan Bilis was more of a starter, if you want it, it would cost you RM 1. It was pretty generous in portion size, tasted good too. I was told that this was a usual thing with Acha Curry House. I sent a couple of photos to my buddies and they immediately knew it was Achas and all that from the Ikan Bilis. Yup, its their thing.

The Chicken Varuval was really good. I specifically requested for chicken breast because I’d rather forego the bones and they delivered. The ‘Small’ option came with 4 meaty, juicy, flavorful chicken meat. It was an awesome addition to the banana leaf rice. The fried fish too, was tender and flavorful. Overall, a good experience. I’d be back for more. Burp!
