Big Breakfast Chow Kit cafe Jalan Kamunting food Nasi Kerabu New 2022 : Nov Pork Free

Kooky Plate at Jalan Yap Ah Shak, Chow Kit (Pork free)

Happy New Year, errrbodayyy!! Hope 2023 will be an even better year for all of us 😁😁

We ended up at Kooky Plate for lunch this time. This month old cafe is fast becoming a crowd favorite. It the name sounds familiar, it’s most likely because of Kooky Cream, a popular dessert cafe in PJ – Kooky Cream @ The Hub SS 2, PJ – Oooo my, Peanut Butter Banana cake. Yummmm! and BangsarKooky Cream at Jalan Kemuja, Bangsar – Desserts & Toasties 😁 (Pork free) . Yes, these cafes are all run by the same folks.

One major difference between Kooky Plate and Kooky Cream is that Kooky Plate serves main meals on top of desserts, it is not just a dessert cafe. Of course, one can still find some of their popular cakes available here. Besides that though, pasta, rice, noodles, big breakfast, pancakes and etc. are all avialble here.

If you aren’t familiar with Jalan Yap Ah Shak, just know that it where Jalan Kamunting and Heritage Row is. This part of Chow Kit is both a local and tourist hotspot thanks to the many eateries in the area.

It was fully crowded by the time we arrived for lunch. So, we ended up sitting outside which ended up being a nice experience. First of all, there was a fan on the ceiling directly above our table which meant none of us had to worry about sweating and feeling hot. Secondly, it was an absolute delight sitting there was watching people walking past and cars driving by.

Menu

Big Breakfast, RM 30 + Nasi Kerabu, RM 28

Nasi Kerabu
Big Breakfast

Food was nice. The Nasi Kerabu here came with a twist. The dish consisted of blue pea rice, crackers, ayam perchik, ulam and cili. Rather than the usual traditional ulam, here, it included a mix of rocket leaves, cheese, chicken floss and strips of something purple. It may be just one part of the whole dish but once everything is mixed up, it becomes evident quickly that it does play a big part in providing a unique twist to the Nasi Kerabu. The chicken was cooked perfectly and the perchik sauce was delicious. The dish as a whole was tasty.

One of the popular dishes here is their Big Breakfast. It included scrambled egg, toasted bread, roasted potato, mushroom, salad and 2 pieces of chicken sausages made in house. It sure was a yummy dish. All items on the plate was delicious. I’ve got no complains.

Overall, we had a good time at Kooky Plate. I wouldn’t mind dropping by for another visit in the evening. Highly likely will end up sitting outside again while sipping on a cuppa coffee and indulge in some people watching.

Basil Minced Chicken Rice Bubur Cha Cha Curry Laksa desserts Good ambiance Local food Ol' School Petaling street Pork Free

Warong Old China at Petaling Street – Old school charm (Pork free)

Since we had time on our hands for the day, we decided to drop by Warong Old China for lunch. This 1 year old eatery has always been within my line of sight whenever I head to KL City Centre via Brickfields but timing was not right to drop by … til now 😊

Parking: As the restaurant is located along a busy road, parking by the roadside was not possible during peak hour. So instead, we parked at Central Market. It cost us RM 5 for 2 hours. As Warong Old China was located a 5 minutes walk away, parking here was a good decision. Alternatively, you can take the train to Pasar Seni station and walk over, 5 minutes walk too.

This is one of those eateries where you’d feel like you got transported back in time as soon as you stepped in. Niceeeeeee. The decor and the feel this restaurant exudes is certainly ol’ school.

Customer service was good. We were immediately attended to once seated. Food arrived within 10 minutes.

Menu

Bubur Cha Cha, RM 7.90 + Warong Curry Laksa, RM 16.90 + Basil Minced Chicken Rice, RM 16.80

Bubur Cha Cha
Curry Laksa
Basil Minced Chicken Rice

The two dishes Curry Laksa and Bubur Cha Cha were my favorites while the Basil Minced Chicken was so so.

The Bubur Cha Cha arrived first. It was a tad sweeter than what I was use to but I liked it alot. The dish consisted of coconut milk with gula melaka, sago, sweet potato and yam. It has been more than a year since I’ve had bubur cha cha and having it here was awesome, I enjoyed it lots.

The Warong Curry Laksa was delicious. It came with a choice of 3 noodles of which I opted for a mix of kuey teow + mee hoon. It was a good combination to be eaten with the thick, milky curry gravy. The gravy was yummy. I enjoyed slurping on it. The dish also included tauhu, taugeh, egg and fishcakes.

The Basil Minced Chicken was okaylah. It was a choice between this and Belacan Fried Rice …. and I should have gone with the fried rice because that was delicious, this was so so. It was a dry dish. Usually, with the minced chicken, it will be served with some gravy on it but here, it was just stir fried minced chicken with basil leaves and long beans. The only gravy was from the cili ketchup, which is not a gravy at all. The runny egg yolk helped a little but once it was all eaten, its back to dry. They should add on a gravy.

Would I head back here? Yea, why not. I look forward to trying their Mee Siam, Pineapple Fried Rice and etc. Since parking was not as difficult, I would not mind dropping by for another visit soon.

Chocolate + Coffee + Whip cream Coco Vanilla Eggs Benedict Eggs Benedict with Cured Salmon Happy Mansion cafe New 2022: June Open Daily Pork Free Section 17 PJ

FEEKA at Happy Mansion, Section 17, PJ – Nicee (Pork free)

I stumbled upon this new cafe while doing my regular cruise around the blocks, once every few months. For some reason, I like Happy Mansion. It’s one of those spots I visit whenever I am on my own. Every now and then, I’d come by a new eatery and would be all giddy to give it a try.

This time, I came across FEEKA, 2 month old. It is located in Block B and occupies a corner lot, took over a space that was formerly occupied by Butter + Beans. FEEKA may be in a corner lot but it is small, especially during lunch hour, it will get filled up rather quickly. I’ve always been a fan of FEEKA, a regular visitor to their Jalan Mesui, Bukit Bintang outlet for several years. Seeing this brand readily available closer to home certainly got me excited.

I visited the cafe for brunch and it was not crowded … yet. Just the way I liked it because it made it easier to enjoy the ambiance when there are less people around. The interior has a rather woody rustic feel to it, a brightly lit space thanks to the large glass windows.

Menu

Eggs Benedict with Cured Salmon, RM 28

Food was good. If you like your eggs runny, the ones here were a little too well done. I had no problem with it because I have an aversion towards anything runny, lol. I do not enjoy my dish soggy and so, the almost well done eggs were awesome. Having it with the cured salmon and slices of sourdough were yummy.

Coco Vanilla, RM 18

This drink I ordered because I saw it on the table next to me, looked nice 😊. Coco Vanilla includes chocolate, espresso, milk, vanilla syrup, biscuit crumbs and whip cream. I initially went right into it, without mixing everything up and what would immediately hit you is the espresso, a rather strong dose. Once I mixed everything together though, the taste of chocolate was evident and the drink overall was milder than before in terms of the coffee biterness. It was a nice mix of milky sweetness. A good blend of chocolate and coffee. It was nice.

Cafe in a park Dessert Free parking Greens Hidden Mutton Masala Nature New 2022: Feb Next to IKEA Damansara Orange Chocolate Tart Park 28 Pork Free Portuguese Baked Fish Set Lunch Something different

Park 28 at Mutiara Damansara – A hidden gem (Pork free)

Park 28 is a hidden gem. I’ve driven passed this particular busy road sooo many times, yet I had no idea Park 28 existed 😱😱. Opened since February this year, it is located within the Mutiara Damansara Recreational Park (next to IKEA Damansara). Entrance is by the roadside, easily accessible. This establishment exudes an air of fancyness with its country club feel, aesthetically pleasing too. If you are one of those who is an avid social media user, love taking photos and videos of anything visually pleasant, Park 28 will suit you just fine.

Parking: Plenty of parking available. As soon as you turn into the vicinity of Park 28, you’d be able to easily locate the designated area for parking, at no cost. Free of charge.

Park 28 has both indoor and outdoor seating. Just to experience both, I had lunch indoor and dessert outdoor. If you do visit on a day that isn’t raining, do sit outside. There is something appealing about being out in the greens and it is an awesome feeling being surrounded by it. Whether you visit on your own or with a large group of people, you most definitely will find a suitable spot here.

Menu

Set Lunch: Mutton Masala, RM 22.90 + Portuguese Baked Fish Fillet, RM 18.90

Since we dropped by within the 12 pm – 2 pm window, we opted to give their Set Lunch a try. Both dishes were certainly affordably priced and it included a bowl of soup as well as a glass of Iced Lemon Tea.

Mushroom Soup and Iced Lemon Tea
Mutton Masala
Portuguese Baked Fish

The soup and drinks arrived first, as it rightfully should. Soup of the day was the Campbell’s Mushroom Soup while Drink of the day was Iced Lemon Tea.

Less than 10 minutes later, our main dishes arrived. Food was good. The Mutton Masala was packed with plenty of flavors. I love the fact that it did not have the distinct, lingering aftertaste that usually accompanies this particular type of meat. The gravy was somewhat spicy and was awesome to eat with the rice.

The Portuguese Baked Fish Fillet was delicious too. It was cooked in Asam/Asam Pedas style. Boneless, tender fish with flavorful gravy and okra that was perfect to eat with the white rice that accompanied the fish.

Orange Chocolate Tart, RM10.90

Since we had a little more space in our tummies for dessert, we decided to share this tart. The Orange Chocolate Tart was decadent and appealingly bitter-ish. It had a good equilibrium between sweet and bitter, the kind you’d get from dark chocolate. I usually am not a fan of dark chocolate but the mix of chocolate and orange was rather appealing here. I liked it. It had a perfect balance of flavors.

The tart was a good end to my visit to Park 28. Would I head back here? I would. I regularly have meetings in the area and Park 28 would provide a good setting to have some of those get-together.

Curry Chee Cheong Fun Damansara Jaya Duck meat New 2022: June Roast Duck

Itek Itik at Damansara Jaya – Curry Chee Cheong Fun with Roast Duck

One of the latest additions to the food scene in Damansara Jaya is Itek Itik. Barely 2 weeks old, its name speaks for itself .. it is all about the duck meat here.

The restaurant was pretty spacious. It included 2 shoplots and occupy a corner unit.

Parking was rather difficult. After going round the block three times and failing to come across any empty spot, I opted to park in Atria (First hour free, subsequent hour: RM 1). It was a 5 minutes walk to Itek Itik from the mall, no sweat.

** They accept all forms of payment – cash, card and QR pay. They also have WIFI here.

Menu

I arrived at 12.45 pm and was hoping to have some Kolo Mee only to be told that the whole noodle section was not available. Okay. Since I was on my own for the day, I figured that I’d give their ‘Set Meal’ a try. It was a tad misleading because it does not come with any drinks, as a Set Meal usually would. Anyways, I was interested in their Nasi Lemak Curry Itik/Ayam, only for once again to be told that it was not available because the rice was still in the midst of being cooked. Its 12.45 pm, well within lunch hour .. and the rice is still cooking? Haiyaaaaaaaaaaaa. In the end, I opted for Curry Chee Cheong Fun and since it cost me RM 27.50 … it better be good or I’ll be bloody pissed. Oooo and guess what? For drinks, I wanted Lemongrass Pandan … not available. Barley Lime …. not available. At that point, I decided to forego drinks because I was getting irritated.

Curry Chee Cheong Fun with Roast Duck, RM 27.50

Well well well, food was tasty. I enjoyed it. This dish comes with a serving on noodles with curry + tauhu and potato with a quarter serving of duck meat. If you are a fan of roast duck, then you’d enjoy this dish because it came with loooottttsss of meat, I kid you not. Usually, I’d be able to finish meat that I am served but this one here was an exception. I simply couldn’t stuff myself anymore than I did. There was quite a lot of meat on that 1/4 duck. The curry was delicious, thick and flavorful. It was a perfect gravy to eat with the Chee Cheong Fun. Overall, it was a good dish with ample of duck meat.

Address: 15 & 17, Jalan SS 22/19, Damansara Jaya, Petaling Jaya.

Opening hours: Mon, Wed – Sun, 10.30 am – 9.30 pm. Tuesdays Closed.

Chicken Fillet Pesto Spaghetti Chicken Whole Leg Confit Grilled Chicken New 2022 : Feb Pesto Pineapple Milk Pork Free Scrambled Eggs Setapak cafe

Watermark Restaurant at Setapak – Good food, affordable price

After concluding a work meet, we headed to Watermark for lunch. This 4 month old cafe occupies a corner lot, located within a row of shops. It certainly can pass of as a neighborhood cafe because it is surrounded by houses and is literally one of the few eateries in this stretch. With its new and modern interior, it does stand out comparatively from the other businesses because the others were more ol’ school and dated, includes a car service shop and similar SMEs.

Watermark has both indoor and outdoor seating. For the indoor seating, there is the semi air conditioned area as well as the fully air conditioned area. The semi air conditioned area, which was where we were seated, was attached to the outdoor area. So, not only do you get air conditioning, you’d also get the natural air from outside flowing in. The fully air conditioned area, is an extended area on the inner part of the cafe, a level below from where we were.

Parking was easy and free. Many parking spots available directly in front the row of shops. If that is fully occupied, people tend to park at any nook and corner here.

Menu

Pineapple Milk, RM 11

Apparently their specialty is their pineapple jam which is specially made in house. So, any of the pineapple drinks in their Refresher Series, Fizzy Series and Milk Series was highly recommended. I was curious and so, I decided on Pineapple Milk. I did not know what to expect but what I was served was certainly likeable. It included milk with small bits of sweet-ish pineapple. I enjoyed it. The combination was unique and the addition of pineapple to milk was definitely a thumbs up.

Scrambled Eggs, RM 14

This could be a meal by itself. The portion served certainly caught us by surprise because it was generous. Served with warm, buttery English muffin, the scrambled eggs were soft, dense, gooey and milky. With chewy sauteed mushrooms and tomatoes, the combination of items made up one delicious dish. I would not mind giving it another go again. I liked my scrambled eggs wet, slightly undercooked and I requested that the eggs be cooked that way. I appreciate their attempt to make the dish as close as possible to what I requested for. On top of that, they did drop by to double check if they delivered what I requested for, which they did. Awesome customer service, for sure.

Chicken Fillet Pesto Spaghetti, RM 17

Again, worth another mention – the portion size here is large and generous. Lots of pasta and pieces of chicken fillet with some cream cheese. If you like your pasta creamy and a little wet, this would certainly satisfy you. The taste of pesto was evident and when eaten with the chicken, the spaghetti was tasty.

Chicken Whole Leg Confit, RM 18

This dish turned out surprisingly good too. The meat was tender and juicy, it broke apart easily when cut into. The white cream was apparently pepper sauce which I was initially apprehensive about. I am not often a fan of pepper sauce as it tends to overwhelm the whole dish with peppery taste but this one here was not overpowering at all. If I was not aware that it was pepper sauce, I would have assumed that it was just a creamy sauce. I suppose the sauce combination worked well with the chicken, that I simply forgot about the pepper. The meat was served on a bed of potato ratatouille, which tasted good and was an awesome addition to the dish overall.

Overall, I had a good experience here. Customer service was good, food was better than expected. Affordably priced too. Would I head back here? Yes, I would like to. If I find myself on this side of town, I’ll keep Watermark in mind.

3 Layer Genmacha Cake Dessert Grilled Chicken Hidden Large portion size Nasi Lemak New 2022 : March New cafe KL 2022 Pasta Quiet

Aboutyu at Happy Garden, KL – A cosy new cafe

I’d consider this cafe hidden. I’ve driven passed it several times over the past few months and failed to notice its existence. It was only after I came across a post online that I took note of its existence. A quiet, hidden cafe? Sign me up 😊

Aboutyu is a 3 month old cafe located on the first floor, within a row of shops located along Jalan Lazat 2, Happy Garden. If you like a cafe with pockets of greens here and there, then you’d like Aboutyu. It was also bright and airy. You’d have fresh air coming in from the opening on the wall …. and oh, lets not forget about the red bearded dragon pet they have. I’ve never seen one face to face and it sure was fascinating. Such beautiful and curious creatures.

Cute, ey? 😍

I spent a good 3 hours here. First for lunch and then to finish up some work on my laptop. It was a mixed atmosphere here. At times quiet and the rest, jovial and filled with chatter, laughter. Funnily enough, the noise was not a bother at all. Once you find your own corner, you are set. For now, they have no wifi. It was not an issue for me as I was working on some Excel spreadsheets that needed no internet.

The lady boss was friendly, easy to chat with. Prior to this, they operated a cafe elsewhere that sadly had to cease operations due to the complications caused by Covid 19. Not one to give up, they opened Aboutyu 3 months ago and so far, by the looks of it, they are doing pretty good. The neighborhood seem to like them.

Menu

They have limited menu at the moment but soon, they intend to add on more items.

Their menu was viewed through a mini Ipad which was not as convenient as I thought it would be to snap a photo. So, all images are taken from Aboutyu’s FB page.

Grilled Chicken Wings
Salmon Steak
Grilled Chicken with Mashed Potato
Homemade Bagel Sandwich
Nasi Lemak with Grilled Chicken

Nasi Lemak with Grilled Chicken, RM 16.90

One thing to note here is that both the dishes we ordered here were served in a large portion size. Usually, when we visit on an empty stomach, large serving size would not be an issue because we are hungry but here, despite the hunger, we could not finish everything. A rarity it was. The Grilled Chicken was yummy. Tender meat with crispy skin. The sambal was unique. It certainly was not the usual onion sambal. Unusual. Sweet with slight tangyness to it. I liked it, it was delicious, especially so when eaten with the grilled chicken and basmathi rice. Yum!!

Pasta, RM 16.90

I cant seem to recall the name of this dish. Once again, large portion size. The pasta used here were the thinner version – angel hair, perhaps? It came served with lots of minced porked meat. The whole dish had a lemon zesty taste to it which made it all the more interesting. It was a tasty dish.

Genmacha Cake

Despite being full, I was craving for dessert. The cake of the day was this 3 layer Genmacha cake. The bottom part resembled a cake, solid in texture. The mid part was thick, creamy and the top part was light, airy and had the most matcha in it. If you are a matcha lover, you’ll like this cake.

Overall, I had a pretty good time here. I wouldn’t mind heading back for more, in the future.

Bombolonis Bukit Ceylon cafe Changkat Bukit Bintang desserts Earl Grey Good bombolonis in KL New 2022 : March New cafe KL 2022 Pistachio

Dough by Meg at Bukit Ceylon – Bombolonis 😍😍

Bomboloni lovers, rejoice. There is a new cafe in town serving up some delicious bomboms for all you lovers.

Just over 2 months over, Dough by Meg is located along a quiet row of shops, attached to a boutique hotel (currently up for sale), just a stonethrow away from the ever busy Changkat Bukit Bintang. In contrast to Changkat, this particular side of town is relatively calmer and quieter. It makes for a good place to chill, away from the hustle and bustle.

The cafe was relatively quiet. It’s a perfect spot to sit and relax, as well as get work done. I spent almost 3 hours on my laptop there and it was bliss. Customer service was good and parking was easy, we parked by the roadside.

We arrived around 2 ish pm and there were only 4 flavors left. All the flavors in the image below was sold out.

I was really looking forward to the Biscoff as well as Valrhona Chocolate & Salted Caramel flavors. Sadly, all was sold out by the time I dropped by. What was available though was London Fog Earl Grey, Classic Pistachio, Lemon Cheese and Thai Milk Tea. All of which looked delicious and tempting.

If you guys want more choices, best you pay Dough by Meg a visit by 2 pm as most flavors tend to be sold out after that. They get quite a lot of takeaway orders and so, they tend to run out fast. When I ordered my Pistachio bomboloni, there were 3 more left. When I return to the counter 10 minutes later to get myself another one, all 3 pieces were gone and that particular flavor was sold out.

Menu

Bomboloni: London Fog Earl Grey, RM 11 + Pistachio, RM 12

Pistachio Bomboloni

London Fog Earl Grey

The texture of the bombolonis were nice – fluffy and bouncy with plenty of creamy, custard-ish filling. Both flavors were great. Pistachio was obviously a crowd favorite. You’d immediately be able to tell what it was after your first mouth, especially with bits and pieces of pistachios evident. Biting into it was a delight. However, my favorite would be the London Fog Earl Grey flavor. It had a silky uniqueness to it which I liked, was not too sweet either. I honestly thought that these bomboms were going to fill me up but surprisingly, they are easy on the stomach.

Would I be back here? Yes, I would. The bombolonis were yummy. I look forward to giving the other flavors a try.

Banana Cake Banana loaf with chocolate chip Cake Croissant New 2022 : April New cafe PJ April 2022 Open Daily Pastries Tiramisu cake Tropicana, PJ

The Lemon Tree at Tropicana, PJ – New instagrammable cafe in town.

Opened doors just over a week ago, The Lemon Tree is taking social media by storm. The more I came across videos of it, the more curious I became. Since I had a few hours to spare this time, I decided to drop by to check them out.

I visited around 3 pm and had to line up under the hot sun for 30 minutes before allowed entry into the cafe. Some folks brought their own umbrella, please do that because you are bound to sweat. Those miniature fans that can be bought from Daiso will certainly come in handy here. No joke.

Parking? There is an open carpark right next to the building The Lemon Tree is located at. Customers of the cafe should park there. I however decided to try my luck and park in the building itself because it was bloody hot and I did so for free. Perhaps during weekends, one can park for free if they manage to find an empty spot not inside the bulding, but outside, surrounding it.

After the 30 minutes wait outside, heading in was a much awaited relief. The doors opens up to a large, brightly lit space. The addition of a lemon tree in the middle of it all gave it a rather ethereal feel.

Depending on your time of visit, be warned. If you are sitting by the glass panels/windows, you are going to get roasted. Literally hot, scorching sun shining on you throughout the entire duration of your visit. My sister and I were technically suppose to get a table in a shady corner. However, the couple before me decided to request for a switch of tables and so, they ended up with our table and we ended up with theirs which was directly in the suns’ path. Waiting for another table would take some time and I was honestly too tired and sweaty to do more waiting. So, we sat at that table, suffered direct sun flashing on us for the entire 45 minutes we were seated there. Ate all of them pastries with the sun blazing on us. It was utterly ridiculous. I hope these Lemon Tree guys figure this out. Perhaps put a shade on or tint the glass? Or maybe have a time limit on how long can customers occupy a table? There were several tables in the shade where the customers were already done with their meals but remained sitting and was chatting away. I dont knowlah but figure this out please.

Menu

Spicy Tuna Puff

Chocolate Banana Loaf

Pastries were tasty. Spicy Tuna Puff came with lots of tuna filling and was pretty good. It however was not spicy. The Tiramisu Cake was goood. It tasted as a tiramisu cake should taste. I only wished that it was bigger in size. The croissant was buttery and fluffy. The Chocolate Banana Loaf was basically a moist banana cake/bread with chocolate chips scattered all over. Just like the Tiramisu Cake, I wished this was bigger in size too. It was delicious and having more of it would have been awesome.

Would I be back here? Nope, not untill they figure out the sun stituation. Having to sit 45 minutes with the sun shining on my face after waiting in line outside for 30 minutes under similar circumstances is not my cup of tea. It made enjoying the pastries and the ambiance a tad difficult. I am not looking forward to getting roasted again.

Instagrammable Jalan Kamunting New 2022 : Jan New cafe KL 2022 Pork Free Roasted Chicken Sandwich Sandwich Seafood Laksa Spaghettini

Bricks and Bread KL @ Jalan Kamunting, Chow Kit (Pork free)

I’ve always liked heading to Jalan Kamunting. Eventhough it is located right there in the city centre, it managed to somehow retain its ol’ school charm and not succumb to modernization. Every now and then, there would be recent additions along this road, new restaurant or cafes … and I’d be bubbling with excitement to drop by for a visit 😁

The latest addition to Jalan Kamunting would be Bricks and Bread, just over a week old and located a few doors away from Rise & Shine by Tapestry – Rise & Shine by Tapestry @ Chow Kit – A nice change from the usual (Pork Free) .

I was told that Bricks and Bread is run by the same folks behind Dough and Dolce in TTDI – Dough & Dolce @ TTDI – Grilled Chicken Pesto Sandwich, anyone? Yesssssss ! 🙂 (Pork Free) . I can still taste the yumminess of that grilled sandwich that I had there …

We arrived during lunch and it was full house. The building itself was white, it was bright and it occupied a large space. Niceeeeeee. We weren’t too sure if we should grab an empty table ourselves or wait to be seated. There wasn’t anyone around at that point in time to enquire about the protocols here as everyone was occupied with something. Soon enough though we managed to get their attention and was told to wait to be seated.

There was both indoor and outdoor seating. At mornings and evenings, perhaps sitting outside is an awesome idea but during noon though, especially when the sun is shining brightly, I think sitting inside is best because it is bound to get hot and heaty in no time. Bricks and Bread occupies two floors. During the time of my visit, sadly, the top floor section was closed.

Menu

Roasted Chicken Sandwich, RM 28

This was one delicious sandwich. The focaccia bread was just how I liked it soft and dense, with a good portion of shredded roasted chicken that was soft and juicy and some rocket greens. There was some green sauce that was sprinkled all over and according to the Menu, it was Aji Verde?, a Peruvian green hot sauce. It wasn’t as spicy as it sounded, flavorful though. The sandwich was served with a side of salad. A delicious dish it was.

Seafood Laksa Spaghettini, RM 38

This too was a good dish. How good a dish it is is dependant on how conventional and traditional you are. I liked it, it tasted good. My only issue in the future would be wether or not I want to spend RM 38 for it again. My friend however is more fixed in his likes and dislikes and to him, he likes his laksa in its original form with long beans, tauhu and the proper noodles used. So yea, how nice this dish is depends on how open you are to trying different versions on it. I for one, do not have an issue with the angel hair pasta used for noodles. It worked well with the dish overall. The laksa broth was somewhat thick and plenty flavorful. There were 2 pieces of Tiger prawns + a couple of clams + small bits of barramundi. Once everything is well mixed, it made up a flavorfull and tasty dish, a filling one too.

Would I head back here? Yea sure. Bricks and Bread isn’t just Instagrammable, it serves good food too. I hope the quality is maintained for a long, long time and if I am in the area again, I would drop by for another visit.
