Bao Bao Burger Chicken Rice Bowl Cluck Norris Fried Oyster Mushrooms Muslim Friendly New 2021 Pork Free Rice Bowl Self PickUp Takeaway/Delivery service

The Bao Guys @ SS 2, PJ – Bao burgers πŸ˜‰

We dropped by this new, 2 month old eatery to takeaway some lunch. I was in the mood for some bao burgers and Da Bao Restobar in Petaling Street – Da Bao Restobar @ Petaling Street – Awesome Bao …. yum!, was too far away. Taking a risk to cross over from PJ to KL, with police roadblocks here and there, yea… it was not going to happen as I am a lil too chickensh*t for that. A quick search online found that I could get my bao burger right here, near me. So, okaylah, lunch for the day was from The Bao Guys.

I would usually place an order online, wait a while and then make my way to the restaurant, pay and collect. This time however, since we were already in the area, we dropped by and then ordered. It was perfect as it gave me a chance to snap some photos 😊

Menu

Cluck Norris, RM 10.90

Yup, I wanted a bao burger and I got it. The charcoal bao was soft and ‘bouncy’, the patty was made up of a good chunk of boneless fried chicken with some mayo. I’d usually need some chili sauce to go with it but here, it was not necessary as it tasted good enough on its own.

Chicken Rice Bowl, RM 15.90

The portion size with this rice bowl is generous. You’d get lots of chicken and rice too. The chicken, it was basically chicken popcorn and you’d get lots of it, plenty to last till the last spoon on rice. It was meaty, chunky and crunchy, tasted yummy too. The rice, it came doused in some kechuppy gravy with some pickled cucumber and sliced chilli. The combination was good. Overall, it was a pretty tasty dish.

Fried Oyster Mushrooms, RM 7.90

Besides their baos, this fried mushroom dish is apparently a crowd favorite too. As you know, oyster mushrooms are pretty big and here, those mushrooms are nicely coated with some flavorful batter before frying. As a result, you’d get large, crispy and crunchy pieces of fried mushrooms that that taste awesome. I however am not use to this dish. The only time I’ve tried this sort of dish is during my visits to a vegetarian restaurant and that too using brown clamshell mushrooms, never ones as large as these oyster mushrooms. Upon tasting it, I can understand its appeal because it does taste good but its not something I am used to. I would not mind having another go at it though.
