A recent addition to the Seksyen 17 food scene is Ban Ke Cafe. Located on the Ground floor of Block B, Happy Mansion, Ban Ke Cafe replaces what used to be a popular dessert cafe, Xiao by Crust.
The environment was pleasant. It had a white, beige theme that was rather calm and relaxing. I liked it. The ambiance and vibe was appealing. If I am not mistaken, this cafe occupies 2 floors? As I’ve injured my leg, which limits my movement, I did not have the luxury to head upstairs. Ordering the food and drinks were easy, all done through the QR code on the table and food arrived within 10 minutes.

Prawn Cheong Fun, RM 16
I was in the mood for something simple and not too heavy on the stomach. This dish was the right choice. You’d get a plate of flat noodles in tasty curry, with small prawns, fuchuk, fishcake and garnished with fried onions and spring onions. I went through the dish faster that I anticipated. I guess when all you have to do is slurp and slurp, its easy to loose track of the amount left🤣.
Teriyaki Chicken Rice Bowl, RM 20
This rice bowl is best enjoyed on an empty stomach because it sure was filling. Delicious too. The dish include soft, gooey rice topped with an egg and a good drizzle of mayo. Besides that, there were bonito flakes, seaweed strips and tender chicken with teriyaki sauce. I loved that the bonito flakes were thick rather than the super thin ones elsewhere. You’d really be able to taste the flavors of the fermented tuna and its addition to the dish made it even better. The teriyaki sauce had a slight sweet-ish taste to it and work well with the mayo. The combining taste was pleasant. Overall, this was a good rice bowl, filling too.
