Chicken Rice stall in Restoran Happy Suki at Seksyen 17, PJ

As mentioned in the previous post on Rika – Rika Cafe at Seksyen 17, PJ – A new cafe in the area 😍 (Pork free), we noticed several Chinese eateries within the same area as the cafe during our last visit. So, for lunch this time, we decided to drop by and try out the chicken rice stall within Restoran Happy Suki. The eatery is located just a few doors away from Rika, on the Ground floor of a low cost flat. The low density flats are located opposite the road from Jaya One and Ryan & Miho Service Apartment.

The restaurant had a simple, no frills setup similar to a typical Chinese coffeeshop. During lunch time, it was fully occupied. Most of the customers looked like they were regulars, made up of folks that live and work nearby.

Parking was easy. Plenty of spots available just outside the restaurant, free of charge. However, depending on your time of visit, you may have to go around the block a few times before you come across an empty spot or you can choose to double park instead.

Menu

Chicken (quarter) + Char Siu (2 pax) + 2 rice + 2 soup = RM 34

The Chicken Rice here were simple and tasty. The meat was tender and juicy and deciding on the quater chicken was spot on. It was more than enough for 3 people to share. The Char Siu to me was a downer. I did not quite enjoy it. The whole portion was made up of only lean meat, no fats. It was somewhat hard and chewy. I did not like it. The only positive thing about the Char Siu was the thick sweet sauce drizzled over it. The mix of honey and rice wine was somewhat peculiar but surprisingly pleasant and yummy.

All in all, I had a satisfying, hearty meal here. I would return here for the chicken rice, no to the char siu. While I do not think this is the BEST chicken rice in the area, it was nevertheless yummy and good enough for me in a ‘good chicken rice in my neighborhood’ kind of way. We all have that list of restaurants within our area of residence that we’d regularly visit. This would be one in my list for chicken rice.
