It has been over seven years since I last visited this establishment. Initially, it operated as an Indian restaurant serving banana leaf rice, but it has since transformed into a Sri Lankan restaurant. One aspect that has consistently appealed to me about UMAC house is its ambiance/setting, and I am pleased to observe that it remains unchanged despite the passage of time.
UMAC House is a clubhouse affiliated with the University of Malaya (UM). Admirers of older and charming traditional bungalows will certainly appreciate this establishment. Situated in a quiet neighborhood, it is located opposite the road from MAHSA Avenue and is conveniently close to Jalan Gasing, Seksyen 17, Seksyen 13, and even SS 2 and Damansara Jaya. Everyone and anyone is welcomed to dine in here, it is not just limited to the folks of UM. Parking was relatively easy. The plot of land next to UMAC is open for customers to park their vehicles.
Menu
Sri Lankan Chicken Briyani, RM 18 + Kizhi Parotta, RM 16
Food was delightful. The chicken biryani boasted rich flavors, with tender and succulent pieces of chicken complementing the rice exquisitely. The dish proved to be delicious, whether enjoyed with or without the gravy. Additionally, it featured a boiled egg and a portion of onions in raita.
The Kizhi Parotta consists of roti canai filled with chicken and gravy, and topped with an egg. This dish was also delightful and exhibited similarities in flavor and texture to a Murtabak. Delicious!
Would I head back here? As I enjoyed the food at UMAC House, I will certainly be back here for another visit.
