Japanese Noodles Open Daily Ramen Rice Bowl

Menya Hanabi @ Sri Petaling – Ummm, okaylah

To be honest, I’ve never heard of this eatery until two days ago. What happened two days ago? Well, I decided to surf the World Wide Web to check out restaurants that were rated highly by customers. I found a few and among them was Menya Hanabi, a Japanese restaurant, rated 4.5 on Google by over 200 people. That sure is a high accumulation score, isnt it? Oooooo, it got our tongues wagging, that is for sure and boy, the anticipation was sky high thinking about all the yummy goodies we were going to be indulging in ….. oooo yummmms

It’s a small lot, very Japanese-like – this is not to say that I’ve been to Japan, lol but based solely on what I’ve seen on Tv. It was small, with a quick serve setup. Certainly something different from the usual.

Nagoya Don (Large), 13.50 ringgit

The rice bowl was yummy. It was a combination of egg + seaweed + onions + minced pork + rice and several other ingredients. I enjoyed it except for the fact that I made a mistake by ordering the BIG option as oppose to the SMALL. Why? Well, lets just say the ingredients on the top wasn’t enough to reach the bottom? Despite it having a good mixing – the bottom part was basically mainly just rice. So, with the Small option, I think it would have been an equal ratio of top to bottom and after a good mixing, you would still be able to get a decent mixture of the ingredients as oppose to just the rice.

Kimista (Small), 21 ringgit

For our second dish, we opted for one of their dry ramen offerings. Literally every other table had one on their table and every now and then I would hear “nice aaaaaaaa” or “ummmm, yummmm”…. from the sound of it – it must be good, right? Was it? Yessss, it was, yummy. Once everything is mixed up, the flavors were good – a lil spicy with an appealing, complimenting taste from the seaweed. The noodles were slightly wet, gooey – which was an awesome texture against the other items on the bowl. Overall, a good dish.

Would I head back here?

While the dishes were good, it was not exceptional. Would I drive all the way to Sri Petaling for the food served here? NO, I would not. However, if you are living around the area, do check it out. It is limited in its offerings, not an extensive menu but if you like ramens and dons, then this could be your spot.
