Day Trip: E Farm Restaurant at Genting Sempah, Bentong, Pahang – A short drive out of town where good food awaits 😍😍

** As this restaurant is located less than 10 minutes away from Janda Baik and 30 minutes away from Genting Highlands, we’ve included the eatery in the “Day Trip” category.

The bunch of us decided to head out of town for lunch today. A change of scenery would do us good seeing that we have not left KL for a while now. We came to know about E Farm Restaurant from a friend who found this gem while he ‘balik kampung’. This restaurant is a Chinese eatery located 40 minutes away from Kuala Lumpur and less than 10 minutes away from Janda Baik. It isn’t just a favorite spot among locals but Singaporeans too as it is conveniently a short distance away from Genting Highlands. I’ve heard nothing but good things about E Farm and so, for lunch today, this would be a good spot to eat. The fact that it isnt too far off from KL made it an even more appealing choice. On Google, they score an average of 4.1/5 from over 800 reviewers.

To get here, you can rely on Waze. You can use the fastest route (tol road), which would require you to pay RM 8.50 one way, RM 17 two ways or the tol free road that would take you an hour and 10 minutes, an additional 20 – 30 minutes to reach E Farm compared to the tol road.

It was a rather exciting journey getting here. When you are nearing the restaurant, you’s see a sign by the main road indicating that you’d need to turn left. This turn will lead you onto a somewhat narrow, bumpy road, surrounded by greens and a house or two. There is only one way in and out, so it would be unlikely that you’d get lost.

Parking area

Soon enough, you’ll arrive at a parking area and you’d be able to see the restaurant.

While waiting for food to arrive, you’d be able to feast your eyes to a beautiful view with lots of greens and a river too.

Menu

Sesame Oil Chicken (Half), RM 38 + Salted Egg Sotong (Small), RM 25 + Stir Fried Watercress (Small), RM 12 + Onion Omelette (Small), RM 10

Sesame Oil Chicken
Salted Egg Sotong
Onion Omelette
Stir Fried Watercress

Food was very nice, delicious. I sure am glad that I ordered the Salted Egg Sotong. While it was the Small option, the portion size was good enough to feed 2-3 people. I loved it. All the squid was nicely coated with a good amount of salted egg. Every mouth taken was simply divine.

If you are a fan of Sesame Oil and kechup chicken, you’d love the Sesame Oil Chicken. I generally steer clear of any items with this combination but seeing how the rest of the geng liked it, I gave it go. It was not bad at all. The slightly thick gravy had hints of sesame oil in it that was rather appealing. The meat consist of half a chicken which included 10 – 15 small pieces. Again, good enough to feed 2-3 people.

The Onion Omelette had plenty of onions and was yummy. The Small size equals a general omelette size you’d get in KL. So, I can only imagine the size of the Large option. The Stir Fried Watercress was gooood. It included lots of garlic. If you are not a fan, best ask them to reduce. We loved it though. It was the first dish to arrive and first to go.

All in all, it was an enjoyable experience and a much needed change of scenery. Would I head back here? Yes I would, most definitely.
